A typical competitive shooter will soot 5 to 10k a year. A serious shooter will shoot up to 20k, and that's just pistol, not three gun. What if they are too lazy to reload and have the money to buy factory fresh? They can't enjoy their hobby? What if you have some extra cash and know ammo prices ill only go up and you like to shoot? Can't buy in bulk?
And the very fact that the shooter in Aurora shot less than 100 rounds or so means the other 5,900 were insignificant. The logical extension of this is one round will be too many as you might kill somebody with it. I am sure all of the online retailers are already on this as that's a significant chunk of business. Places like AIM already require you to fax your driver's license to them. I don't find that inconvenient or a burden. I still give them my business. Other places don't care. In short, this is a feel good "common sense" measure designed to control the sheeple and further erode their and our rights. Anyway, I don't think any of these make it through pre-election and depending on the outcome in congress, may not be brought to a vote post election either. But, there is always that chance. |

What the hell does the number of rounds the guy bought have to do with anything?

Typical Carolyn 'the Professional Victim' McCarthy writing a Bill and
her ole Pal across the river Lootenberg. Not going to get any traction but not long ago UPS almost single handedly killed Ammo, Powder and Primer sales for only the biggest retailers.

"The three other provisions are: Only licensed dealers can sell ammunition, the licensed dealers must keep records of ammunition sales and they must report the sales of more than 1,000 rounds to an unlicensed buyer within five business days".
Did you guys catch that UNLICENSED BUYER language? And exactly WHO do they send these reports to? How are the reports verified or checked for accuracy? What remedy do we have if there is a reporting error?

Their logic is, that if you want 1000 rounds, you want to kill 1000 people.

It's no surprise that you understand their logic.
