You'll see orange but most of the light is UV. You won't see that part.

An electric chamber warmer, keep the lacquer above its melting point. I do this crazy stuff too.

This thread had me cruising GMs list of cheap barrels. Lots of chip making opportunity. I have a few of those Savage Axis rifles here, what is the thread of the barrel shank? Are they the old small 1 1/16th, or the new and improved 1 1/8"???

He didn't say WHY you were his hero - you just assumed it was the rifle. Maybe it was that suave photo in your avatar?

Nothing new on this rifle.

HAM hobby and the jet ski rebuild are eating up my time right now.

I bumped into it in the closet again the other day...It really just needs a better spring and then I can do more testing.

Winter is coming, be patient.

Was this a Bulgarian/Import barrel or a US barrel? I would have thought that you would have seen better results than you have, those groups look worse than both of the 74s that I built recently using US barrels. I bought both of mine through AK-Builder, one is chrome lined the other not. The nonchrome lined has an 11 degree target crown and the chrome lined has the standard military crown. I have been shooting both of them for a couple months now and I believe that the non chrome lined target crown barrel is shooting slightly better than the other.

A 5.45 bolt rifle would be a great prairie dog/varmint rifle out here.

The bbl is a repurposed AK74 bbl.

If the tensioned bbl doesn't get it done I will use the US made bull bbl blank I bought.

But I am not done with this experiment yet!
