Ok.

I'll be running my FAL with 4-5 mags.

My Beretta 92G SD with 5-7 mags.

Haley Strategic chest rig with his small back pack.

HSGI battle belt.

I'd be willing to bet it will be around 40 pounds.

And I'm pretty sure i will NOT be sprinting around like some little fairy.

Hahahaha! I thought the same thing. We had a half-naked hobbit abduction last weekend. I could do without seeing Mike (or ANY of you guys!) as a fairy.

IF any of you show up at Da Choppa prancing around like a fairy, I'm gonna drop a rock in your shoe when you ain't looking. And that is the first stage. Beseventeen excluded.

So after spending an hour and a half fixing the patio pavers this evening, I started working on some RO-specific documents for the match.

Basically explaining the stages to the ROs in the way I want them explained to the shooters. Making this doc tickled me more than I expected.

This weekend will be hardcore prop creation for me.

In other news:
-Our recently departed RO has returned! So back to full strength!
-we have a new backup RO!
-we have dedicated administration personnel to handle sign in and launch/recover duties
-the sponsor whose prizes I thought I had lost admitted they never sent them (after I took the entire downstairs apart looking for them!)

Nope!

Jill found an install photo from 2004 and we were able to get to the lid with only 20 pavers removed.

Pumped out and no drain field issues.

I put all the pavers back last night.

Great! If that can be great at all?

I almost forgot about that pesky "somewhere to sleep" detail. Just booked a room at the Dawson Village Inn. Where is everyone else staying?

That's the one I point everyone to.

I tried to get them to give us a discount, but no joy.

Just added up the prize table...about $4000 worth or prizes!

Upwards of 40 prizes depending on how I stack things.

I have plaques for the top 3 shooters as well as 'High Estrogen'...let's see if you guys can keep Eowyn from going home with more than one plaque!

RO shake-ups continue, but I will get assignments to you fine folks soon.

I am staying at the Quality Inn and Suites on the other side of the Mall next to the Wally World. Needed to make my reservations early since I didn't want to risk sleeping in the back of my truck. Dawson Village was hard to contact so I used my Choice membership for the QI.

Stimpy, I sent you an email.

Jimmy assures me he can determine estrogen levels...I did not inquire as to his methods...feel free to test him.

Stage 1 and Stage 5, what's the target distances?

Tryn'a plan out how many clips of dirty-ought-six I need to carry.

y'all need about a hunnert fiddy of dem stendo clups for Da Choppa!!!

I know you asked for ranges, but here is some public info to figure things out before Stimpy chimes in:

Stage 2 is listed as the 600 yard stage. All other ranges are 300 yards or less. So you can figure that all other shooting distances will be 300 or less.

As long as we're gaming, what's the longest single run? Do we have a bunch of stages close together and one or two long runs (like Oklahoma), or are the stages somewhat evenly spaced?

Training this week.

Found a place to shoot out to at least 500 yards.

Got to check my zero at 100 yards.

See where i am hitting at 300 and 500 yards.

Did some fine tuning.

Spent a couple of hours shooting.

Looks like i'll have a place to shoot weekly at distance.

...runs off to google maps...

Longest run is definitely the run from stage 3 to stage 4, 1.5 miles and starts at max elevation, drops to creek level, back up to max, back down to creek, and back up to max at stage 4. This section also includes the low crawl and A-frame obstacles.

Start to stage 1, 0.5 miles...all downhill.
Stage 1 to stage 2, 0.5 miles...climb just before stage 2 to max elevation.
Stage 2 to stage 3, 0.5 miles...max el to creek and back to max el (ish)
stage 3 to stage 4, 1.5 miles...1.5 miles and starts at max elevation, drops to creek level, back up to max, back down to creek, and back up to max at stage 4. This section also includes the low crawl and A-frame obstacles.
Stage 4 to stage 5. 30 feet
Stage 5 to finish, 200 yards-ish

Just groked this...

"All your words are but to say: you are a woman, and your part is in the house. But when the men have died in battle and honour, you have leave to be burned in the house, for the men will need it no more. But I am of the House of Eorl and not a serving-woman. I can ride and wield blade, and I do not fear either pain or death."

“What do you fear, lady?"

"A cage, to stay behind bars, until use and old age accept them, and all chance of doing great deeds is gone beyond recall or desire.”

Like her...not your fate.

If you could nuke that post I would appreciate it, TAC.

We don't need confusion at this point.

I know I know, but it will confuse folks.

Made it to Quantico today for some long range work for next weekend. Started at 100 yards with some offhand and then 300 yards prone. SIG did it's job very well then backed off to 600 yards to see how it all is going to shake out for next week at Stimp's.

Video shows that I didn't even realize that I was on (for the most part) right out of the gate and I wasn't hearing the first two shots (blaming the earpro and should have brought spotting scope). Started playing the tracking the reticle (which means started shooting all around the target) until I shifted to the range bag for a rest and decided to hold low center right away...well you will see how that worked out!

...and by the way, this little guy is just fine (was a little worried though)

It is a wonder you heard anything at all. With the camera mic picking up a steady wind and the guy on the range with you hammering the steel with a larger caliber....... What scope were you using?

Pretty fine shooting for a short rifle.

TA31H 4x ACOG. If I had left things as they are and just kept aiming center mass it would have been a lot better.

Dang - you guys are making me feel lazy with all of this awesome training you're doing. So I'm all in:

0.5 mile all out run
Dry fire
0.5 mile all out run
Dry fire
0.5 mile all out run
Dry fire
1.5 mile hard run
Dry fire
30' sprint
Dry fire
200yd sprint

First 4 runs were on the road so no gear. Last two sprints were near the house so I just left my LBE on.

And I had to weigh in since I had all my gear on. 24lbs total (vs. 35lbs for the 10k). Not as light as I was hoping for, but that's what I get for being stubborn about this .308/.45 thing.

I feel better! I'm starting off with 15% of my bodyweight.

I was thinking Kelly would come in at 10% with only a lightweight AR and a few mags, but I forgot she's carrying the Garand. Or is she???

Who has the lightest load?

I forgot to mention - going out shortly for some pistol practice as pennance for bombing my own freaking pistol stage last week.

In other news I was making splendid progress on the A-frame obstacles today when the drill came off the screw I was running and promptly fell into the distal phalanx of the left hand index finger.

Brand...new...#3...driver. It went in at full rotation.

Blood loss was copious. I went to the maintenance building only to discover my normal solution for such an injury, shop rags and electrical tape...were both in absence. Fine...drove 35 minutes home dripping along the way. Looks OK in my sink...off to urgent care for a cleaning and tetanus check. Nurse says "You have 2 years to go on your tetanus if you don't have an event. You should get a booster as soon as possible." Oh...hi doc, yep, it's me...the spark plug guy. Oh I dunno...I think that seems like a relatively long time between injuries. No...yes...I don't come here for ALL of them.

Oh, Lord!

You really need to slow down a little - just a little, so you don't keep doing this stuff to yourself, Stimp!

Hope you make it to the next injury less quickly . . . (Glad you could post this though).

How is your trigger finger holding-up?

You have to show the kids how it is done, yet . . .

THERE's the problem - everybody knows sheetrock screws take a #2 phillips bit!

That sucks though. It's going to especially suck for that weak shoulder rifle shooting you put on a stage.
