What did you use to strip the paint?
It turned out very well.

Stock had ugly brown paint that I stripped. Scraping, steaming, a half dozen hand rubbed coats of tung oil taken down to no gloss with 0000 steel wool and wa la! Finished product.

Whatever Lowes had on the shelf; a Crown product I believe. If you use stripper, be sure to follow with a cleaner to remove any stripping agent and let the wood dry thoroughly before proceeding with finish coats.

Roger that eyeguy,
Hoping mine isnt painted. I was reading a tick on Battle tested, the guy used "Purple power" to strip the oil from the stock. It looked very effective, and non damaging.
Im a fan of tung oil, so thats probably the way I'll go.
