Discovered my old K1A1 in a safe

So, in a recent move, I was getting rifles out for the move and got reacquainted with a K1A1 I bought new some years ago. I laid it alongside an M4 style rifle and was surprised to see that with the stocks collapsed on both rifles, there really wasnít a big difference in length.

This begs the question: would I be well advised to sell it since M4 style weapons have greater support and after market parts?

Iím finding it hard to see any advantage to it since it is a DI weapon just like an AR.

Am I off my rocker?

The Woo is currently worth more than your average AR is. However, parts are tough to come by, so the AR will be easier to maintain.

Your Daewoo is appreciating sitting there in the safe, your AR is doing the opposite.

You decide which one makes more sense to keep.

cheers,

If I was in your shoes and did not need the money, I would lose it in the safe for a few more years.

Is it a collector piece or do you want another shooter? Answer that, and that will answer whether or not you should sell it.

Personally, I don't believe in safe queens, so I'd ditch it for something I would be more likely to use.

This.
And if you do sell it I'm sure that there is a member from Pa
that would love to shoot the heck out of it.

Take care, Mick [IN PA]

I had this conversation with a collector friend a few weeks back.. he thought I was crazy. If I score an exceptional rifle at an exceptional price, I am more motivated to shoot and enjoy it. Sooo... the rifle will lose value if I shoot it. O.K., let's say you bought the new/unfired $1800 rifle for $1000. If you shoot the rifle and enjoy it, the rifle is still worth $1500.

You are not going to break the dang thing at the range... this is a military grade rifle. Don't abuse it, and keep it properly lubed/maintained, and your investment will be sound, and you can have fun with it (and others can't/won't!).

If I like something and shoot it regularly, I keep it. If not and no sentimental value, I turn it and buy something that I will shoot. That being said, I have sold some really horrible guns that became collectible later and went up 5-10x what I sold them for. Would like the money now, but then I would not have most of the guns that I actually shoot as the money would not have been there to buy them.
