Tapco L1A1 scope mount dust covers

Are these worth buying or just go with a dsa scope mount dust cover?

I never have had a problem with the arms mounts. got one for the L1A1 back in 1992 and it was great. I have tried tapco and the dsa and thought they were inferior to the arms. I currently have 2 L1A1's with arms mounts and 3-9 scopes and would not recommend anything else

It is adequate for a light red dot. But it is not as robust as the DSA.

I used to use the ARMS, and even consulted with MS+ (the subcontractor) on converting it to a M1913 pattern (used to be the RSA pattern) and changing the ejection port profile so it would not bounce empties back inside the receiver. But with rails riveted, there is no long term durability, they loosen and there is no easy way to retighten them. At least the ones I had, did.

The DSA is both good and bad for the same reason. Yes, the screws can loosen (bad) but they can be re tightened (good).

The UTG/Tapco, would be better with more clamping screws. Would be really nice with helicoils, if that is even possible. But for a $20 mount, it is adequate for recreational shooting, I think. I would not want to put a heavy scope on it.

And for your further confus....er consideration, there is this lightweight mount for lightweight optics from member nearmisses.
http://www.falltr.com/

I believe you get a FALfiles member discount in the Marketplace forum if interested.

I don't have this mount myself and have nothing to gain or lose with this, just passing along the info. Several members have used this mount and may give a review.
