Grail Gun found at a local shop

You never know what you're going to find at a local gun shop......
This shop specializes in nice black powder rifles and largely junk smokeless firearms. Last year I did buy a nice SAR48 "Bush" from him for $1,200.

I couldn't see the rifle very well on the rack behind the counter. It was smashed up against a bunch of common commercial junk. Mind you this guy buys in ANYTHING. I was thinking the rifle was a VEPR or maybe a PSL because all I could really see was the magazine.

I would sell/trade my ARM Galil for this rifle in a second.

So is the rifle you found a Galil ARM, or did you trade your Galil for another?

So did you buy this Galil, trade your Galil for this one, is this your ARM, or is the rifle still at the shop? Picture looks like it would be a residence.

Inquiring minds want to know!!

Unfortunately the shop owner is old and very sheisty. If you're going to ask full market price for a rare "military" collectible you better do some research or know what you're looking at.

At $5k it should have the correct scope/mount, not have a recoil pad screwed into the butt and be the version imported with the FH and bayo lug IMO.

bargain Tigers are out there.

two years ago buddy snagged one off a table in a small rural show up here for an astounding low of $1500 on a private sale.

No optic but rather clean gun otherwise
Tag ?
Had it described as a PSL Dragonov

That's steep for a Tiger, much less one with those imperfections. But if it's truly your grail gun and you have to have it then go for it...

I had a real one, captured in Desert Storm by a tanker from the Hell on Wheels division. We traded; I gave him my personally owned Browning High Power, I got the Drag plus the correct carry case for the rifle, the carry case for the correct scope, the cleaning kit and 10 mags with 2 correct 4 cell carry cases.

It was primo and it somehow ( )arrived back in the UK with me in 1991. My dad and I shot it then it was dewatted and under pressure from my 1st ex-wife, I sold it to a dealer for a fraction of it's real value... The shit you do when you are young, dumb and full of...

Meh is pretty much how Ive always felt about SVDs. Cool guns but waaaaaaaay too pricey for what they are IMO and some folks pushing them tend to try and drive prices upwards.

Apache Arms contacted me last year about a KBI Russian SVD hed gotten and wanted to know if Id be interested in purchasing it for....wait for it...$36,000.

Another guy on Gb is listing a Norinco NDM-86 with Russian furniture for $13k.

Thats just crazy...
I had both a norinco ndm (54r) and an nhm,,,both were disappointments and went down the road pretty quick.
Add in my valmet and galil experience and it complerely soured me on anything ak based for acceptable accuracy...
I only own a couple of home built ak's now,,and only because they were dirt cheap and Ive still got a stack of ammo crates and a foot locker full of mags for them...

Owned a minty NDM in the 90s. Swapped a Grizzly LAR .45 Win Mag for it
Came with a pile of Norma, shot it a bit. Sent it down the road.

Some truth ?
A PSL is about as accurate as a SVD in my opinion.

There are some REAL SVDs in the US
know of one that allegedly came out of Vietnam. 1st saw that one in like 78'. Retired Air Force Col has or had it. His story was it was taken off a disposed of Soviet fire team near the Ho Chi Minh trail

Real or Memorex ?
No clue
but that was before the 1st actual SVDs were shipped into Canada in the early 80s.

Some of those leaked from Canada into America, usual claim is they came out of Panama, Iraq or Grenada
Also heard rumors of Soviet SVDs brought in country by State Department assholes from Eastern Europe

anyways, none of these are match grade guns
the main appeal is they look esoteric & and one point the fodder was cheap

Me too. Just can't get into some of the Ruskie designs. But I love my Arsenal
AK-74 clone.
