tactical shorts - what are the limits?

http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2...probably-nsfw/

i had a pair of short shorties in tiger stripe camo i bought at the px in da p.i. which were pretty cool but my junk did hang out on occasion but that is how cool warrior types hang.

Inseam is the logarithm, if you have 6 inches to cover then wear a 7 inch short inseam.

so one inch (if you are comfortable with that) maybe 2 inches past said short arm to cover.

Yas don't want to expose that scar from the square needle in the left nut.

Watch the videos with the Brits in North Africa, Asian Jungles etc. I understand that shorts are cooler, but damn, fighting and dealing with bugs and such I want something over my legs. Hell I don't cut the yard in shorts or really walk on the back of the property without boots and heavy duty Wranglers.

The inseam rule works. Three inches is the maximum needed for me.

As long as it falls within three inches of my kneecap, I'm GTG

A knee length Kilt cures most problems. And much better ventilation.

But 12 yards of tartan fabric aint so good for swiming in, short-short are.

I believe that SOP for highland amphibious action calls for blue dye only as a body covering.

Frickin strange film..

Checkout This is something strange but I'm thinking may be happening now with the underground tube shuttles I've read about.

It's a film from the 1970's Genisis II and planet earth about a future civilization that traveled underground in shuttle tunes.

Fashion is for fools!

Hah! - and its full length on uTube! Its almost as whacky as Zardoz - which was something to behold.
Boxer shorts - I always found restrictive, almost like Bloomers, bunching up in jeans - but thats me. The big difference between Euros and Americans is perhaps best portrayed by the underwear they wear, or the shorts - Euro shorts, which can be shorter than the OP's link illustrates.
Well my brother in law comes over here one year, with shorts that can only be described as 'Balls a poppin' - surprised he didn't get a ticket for indecency. Whats normal there, isn't here - must be something to do with the Pilgrims, and their puritanical mindset. Me, I wear something in-between, though due to my Mothers side (Scottish), I have been know to wear a kilt on occasion!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trousers

And we wear our 'Pants' under our Trousers - not on the outside!

Shorts may be fine in the desert but not in the bush. Don't ask how I know.

Nogo on shorts in the bush. It's just silly. Thin breathable fabric. There is no upside to bare skin in adverse environments.

My Ranger Panties still fit, but they're not for field use.

Except if you're in a hurry to drop rounds.

Yeah, and those Brits in North Africa.

Seriously though, I don't get it. I put my time in uniform - mostly jungle and desert (thankfully not in extreme cold weather, I hate cold!).

I've come out of dinosaur land, and squeezed my hands into fists to get all the pus to come bubbling out of the hundreds of abrasions from thorns. I've been eaten alive by mosquitoes. And I've fought sidewinders for the cooler spot of the scrape in endless miles of desert. At no point did it ever occur to me that exposing more bare skin was a good idea.

I'd rather have to apply sunscreen than wear pants out here in the bush when it's at all warm out. Shorts ending right above the knee are great, but the Commonwealth fashion is just not for me.

So you are saying if it is not a 5.11 it is not a real Kilt? Or it has to have rails on the side?

I'm guessing not many of you have actually worn a real kilt.

They are intended for rainy, cold Scotland, not really desert or tropical wear.

8 yards of pleated heavy wool tartan fabric is no fun in the heat, and you really don't want to swim in one (unlike UDT short-shorts).

Tactical shorts, for those brave enough to get their legs torn. That being said, I subscribe to the officer Dangle school of thought, gotta have lighting fast reflexes that can only be achieved through ranger panties.

Don't forget that the whites (about half of the 84 on Op. Eland) had bitchin' beards, too.

Got issued UDT shorts for my second deployment. During the training prior,a buddy was permanently barred from doing road guard duty on runs to the beach because his were.....insufficient....when standing in traffic at parade rest. Made all the dependas honk.
