My dirt road got blacktopped

After 40 years of paying taxes my dirt road is the last in the area to be paved,,, my hope is my quaintness will keep visitors away.
The last bunch that came up my road to ask "had I heard the good news?",,, I said " i had, now get the hell out'a here".
They looked like they would be back.

Happened to us about 15 years ago -- now that it's a paved road they stuffed property taxes right up our ass......we were fine with dirt and then tar and chip but there's no fighting "progress".....yeah right..

Oh, wait, I thought it said "Wheezer", sorry.

Martin; pavement is a sure sign that you are now too close to what passes for civilization these days. You may want to consider moving further up the Brazos.

Stand by for a ram. Taxes are now going higher in the minds of the assessors and will soon be gifted to you.

Thank god you don't have a corner lot and have to pay for both roads.

Or do you?

Where I used to live was a very narrow dirt road, though straight. They widened and paved it maybe 10-12 years back. People started driving by at extremely high rates of speed. Way in excess of the 45 mph for rural roads, and sometimes motorcycles would fly by in excess off a 100 mph. Kids could no longer go near the road,to walk or ride bikes or whatever. Pets got hit with greater regularity.Yeah, taxes went up. Pavement ain't all its cracked up to be.

And for those of us who live in northern states comes additional issues. With pavement comes salt trucks in the winter. Salt destroys the fauna along the roadside, your cars integrity, and even the pavement itself. And that,in turn, adds to the tax burden for the entire populace to cover the expenses. Progress marches on. Backwards it seems.

This was a common sight when I was growing up...
Just as long as they stuck with drain oil and no dioxin, we were ok.

see: Times Beach, MO for a really interesting and sad story.

My road got paved two years ago they stopped the pavement about 100 yards past my house so it feels like I live at the starting line of a 1/4 mile drag strip . Sure beats all the dust though.

I think we need to plan a road trip to do burnouts in front of Martin’s house.

Keg party and all-night horseshoes in the front yard.

Got any neighbors with bushes need peein’ on?

Uhmm...I don't think I could get away with firing AP at people driving by. Pretty sure you go to prison for that. Best thing is keep the dog in the yard. People, however,do have the right to walk down the roadways without being ran over by idiots flying at 100 mph.

This. Committing murder over a dog doesn't sound rational to me.

Yeah well they’re getting ready to put in subdivisions. I bet there’s a truck stop at your exit already.

What exit? That way if I one day have a new car again that’s mine I may go find Martin now he lives on a blacktop road. I hate dirt roads. I expect to drive up and see him with a couple of pet longhorns and a big ass Star on his gate and a marine Corp flag on his pole.

Is that the San Felipe road that heads into town by the Westheimer area. Hell I guess ole Martin lives at the end of the line. He should be happy they got him some blacktop out there

This thread sucks! I was sure that there would be some brunettes posted here.

But no! It really is a thread about blacktops.

If anyone cares? I am not happy!

"I used to get it every night, banged my cowgirl, did it right..

Things started slowing down in May, 'bout the time she started watching the NBA

Pretty soon the loving stopped
My dirty cowgirl started getting black-topped

Now I'm on my tractor, baling hay, I think I'm just gonna move away

These Texas gals, they got no pride, they're cheatin' harlots and their butts are wide

I'll move to Oklahoma, where women are true
and getting black-topped is still taboo

In Muskogee, Oklahoma, USA.....
