The 2013 Oregon FAL Shoot!
Hi Everyone,
I'm making an official Petition to hold FAL Fest here in Oregon next year. We just got back from the 2012 6th Annual Oregon FAL Shoot early this morning and I gotta say that its hands down the most amazing shooting event I've been to ever! We had more than 40 campers and over 35 contenders in the shooting events. We had a massive Oregon FAL shoot feast prepared by some of the most talented BBQ chefs around! This is not an event to miss! We will be holding the event next summer the weekend after Fathers Day. Here's a link to one of the threads about the event we had. http://falfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=321704 -Erik

No petition request here - we're at capacity for a two day event. And I mean to go back to New Mexico next year for my second FAL Fest.
But if any of you all (calling JerryMRC...) want to come out to a great FAL Files member event, this is a good one. Great people, great food, good shooting. Decent weather - some of the time.

The Garand is just a CMP Danish mixmaster with unmatching parts from multiple manufacturers. Winchester, Springfield, and Beretta. It was rebarreled with a Danish VAR barrel in 1969 and when I got it it guaged 0 muzzle and 1 throat. The wood was a mushy cosmoline soaked mix of thrashed walnut and cracked beech.
Since it needed new wood I splurged a bit and also had it reparked. It isn't worth a bucket of spit to a purist collector but it shoots extremely well. It also looks darn purdy, but I'm not into "safe queens". Someday I'd like to shoot it at Perry in the Garand match.

![]() Very nice and if IIRC, you had a born on date of Apr.-May '42 on the receiver. http://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=18167 Not a purist either and would love for my Garand to look as good as yours.

Just kidding, I wish I'd been there to see your run. You must have been rocking those reloads.

Tailback, That Garand sure looks good to me. My best Garand is an old Springfield with all Springfield parts, bought back in the 60's. Great old rifle and the one I favor most. The stock has been bedded to the action and she shoots about as good as a Garand can, but she sure isn't as pretty as yours.
