Moved a few zebras today.....

The vet showed up with a gaggle of American vet students, so he had to explain every step of the procedure.

These are the darts. I think he called the tranquilizer M99.

This is the rifle. It uses blanks through a gas block to push the darts out. 30-40 meters max range.

Now, in comes the chopper.

Bang. Bang.

Tuck the legs in and hold them up in natural position for transport.

We will have you on the trailer in just a minute little buddy.

They are only "out" for 30 minutes or so. Load 'em up and hit the road.

Off loaded at the new farm.

Full set of vaccinations while they are down.

Almost time for the antidote shot now.

Come on, you can do it little guy.

And they are off to the races.

Ho hum, just another Sunday in Africa

In the mid 80's I hauled heavy equipment all over the western US, I had one job where I hauled some stuff out of SE Colorado and used highway 50 as a shortcut from Grand Junction/Montrose to Pueblo. Just outside of Montrose to the east was a field full of Zebras, 10-12 of them IIRC. My second trip through I stopped in Montrose and bought a bag of fresh carrots and stopped to see them up close. Obviously they were pets of some sort, they came right over to the fence and had carrot treats (watch your fingers). I met the owner he said they were surplus from Zoos around the country. At the time he was trying to score a Giraffe from somewhere.

The "where" this was is near Middelburg, Mpumalanga, South Africa. I've spent more days here in 2018 than I have spent in KY. New facility and an exciting time for my business.

On the other question, they have to jump through the same type of hoops we do for a transferrable NFA machine gun, just to have a 22 revolver, but suppressors are not only unregulated but highly encouraged.

Damn thats cool! Hear any scuttlebutt about the horrible killings and poaching s of the big cats elephants and such? I seem to get emails and reports at least couple times a week. You are a lucky man,but you know that

That is very cool.

No restraints are used during transport as a precaution?
