1950s Yugo 8mm In An FN49

I'd like to get into an FN49 and I have thousands of rounds of 1950 era Yugo 8mm. I know people are warned off from using this in semi autos. I use it in my Yugo M76 and Persian Mauser. Dud round every once in a while but no problems I can see.

So this leads me to an Egyptian. Would want a dovetail receiver. I'm thinking of an Egyptian just for the economy of already existing ammo.

Anyone ever see any issues using this ammo in an FN49.

The Yugoslavian 8mm bullet has a slightly different shape, being a bit fatter towards the tip with less taper. The 1950's ammunition leaks a lot around the primer and can erode the bolt and the firing pin quickly. The 1970's ammunition doesn't seem to have this problem but the bullet has the same shape.

I think yugo is heavy ball, 198 grain and the romanian is light ball but not 100% sure. This could cause problems also...

Egyptian 8mm is heavy ball for use in the FN49. The Yugoslavian 8mm is very SLIGHTLY heavier but the bullet shape and design is completely different. Yugoslavian 8mm is loaded SLIGHTLY milder but the 1950's version is in poor condition and leaks around the primer if it fires at all. The 1970's Yugo 8mm is very good but has the same bullet shape problem that often jams the bullet into the rifling of some firearms. The Yugo bullets usually weigh at right around 200 grains and the velocity is slightly lower than standard 8mm heavy ball ammo.

Some 50's Yugo brass will split lengthwise from the rim to midway up the case. Inspecting the brass beforehand does no good, won't know till it happens. Not as bad in a bolt action but can ruin a semi. I always pulled bullets and powder to use in commercial brass with non corrosive primers, worked very well.

I've also seen pics of Romanian splitting in the same fashion.
