Does this one sell out pretty fast too? I'd like to try the OK one before I commit to any more (though, I'm sure I will love it).

Admittedly not much is getting done at the office today now that you guys got me thinking about all of these run and guns and sniper challenge things. Doesn't help that my present for mother's day is sweet freedom (i.e. I get to clock out as Mom this weekend and do only things that make beseventeen happy which includes a full Saturday assembling & shooting my box of long range rifle parts that I've been staring at for a month now). Squeeeeeeeee!!

I was just teasing, I forgot you don't know me....

For the rest of you:

I did 6.8 at a measly 9:45 pace yesterday with minimal knee pain. I think I'm on the mend. It hurt bout 5 miles in, but I was able to run through it. I need new running hoes.

Yes, I have a husband already. One man is enough to take care of. I am accepting applications for a wife tho, I wouldn't mind some help with cooking/cleaning/running a household

New girl makes rowjimmy her beyotch. You're going to get along here just fine.

I gotta ask though - with all the other weird coincidences: What do you do for work? If you are an engineer or a Marine I'm going to start thinking you're a plant.

Yes, it does. And don't worry about over-commitment. Once you run one, you're hooked.

I have a hot rod shop. We specialize in late model GM, mostly hopping up street cars. We also design and manufacture parts in house as well. There is definitely engineering and a Marine-like attitude involved though trying to keep six men in line and keep everything running smoothly is what has helped me to develop my wide array of.... colorful vocabulary.

Welding and machining - close enough! It is a small world, after all.

Ok I'm done working out for the week I did 8 miles last night @ 9:56 avg pace. I was feeling whiny towards the end when I realized that a) if I were running it at a Nuttz pace I'd have been done 15 minutes ago, and b) 8 miles is just a warm up for TK. So thanks guys for pushing me That's 21 miles M-Th.

Did the gym this morning, just upper body & abs since there were no legs left lol. The only fitness I intend to do this weekend includes "fittin-this" pizza and beer into my mouth and resetting targets.

Cool, in my neck of the woods or does he live in GA near you? I ask because our city is a hot spot for NASCAR teams. I can throw a rock and hit forty shops. More than half of my friends are involved in it one way or another. It's not uncommon to go out to lunch and see Kyle Busch or someone kicking around!

So mother's day weekend was everything I could hope for. I got a lot of trigger time in!!

On Sat my friend put together my 700 build for me. I've still got to cerakote the barrel/brake but I love it so far

Spent the rest of Saturday shooting 400-600yds in a cow pasture as the storms rolled in and out. What a piece of heaven - the place is his friends farm in western NC. No cell service, no people for 10 miles. I didn't want to leave. This is my first real optic....holy crap, so it turns out modern day tech is pretty awesome LOL. What a whole new world compared to irons. There is no way I would have appreciated this like I do if I had not shot old rifles/irons for so long!! The longer yardage was a treat too. So funny to pull the trigger for 600 yds and have that huge pause before the steel actually rings. I'm over the moon in love with it.

I played around with it at my local range on Sunday @ 100 yds. I'm getting better with it

and then (the outlier on top is from something else not this group)

Then I poked holes in pennies

I also shot my 1911 after fixing the extractor - was pleased to see that working again without needing any tuning. Ran that & my 870 on the plate rack, then back to the 200 yds to shoot the steel gong with my G1 and Garand.

I didn't feel like doing shit after that, but I made myself throw the garand in my pack and rucked 3 miles. It was pretty toasty out...good training for OK!

Dang dude. I had my fitness test for work tonight, and the running part of it is 1.5 miles. I went all out the whole time, chanting "Gotta beat Nuttz" over and over again. I figured I could do ANYTHING for 1.5 miles if I just pushed hard enough.

Yeah, I got some weird looks. (Gotta beat Nuttz! Gotta beat Nuttz! Gotta beat Nuttz!)

But I still only averaged a 7:54 min/mi pace. And that was only for a mile and a half! There's no way I could have done that for 5 miles.

You are KILLING this!!!

You know it is your fault Brother (and I appreciate it)! I weighed about 225-230lbs when we did the first RBGC match and the first Okie winter run and I was not in any shape at all even after training for it. I am about 190-194 now and feel a million times better about myself. I will hug you again (long and lingering) soon! Thank you Little Demon, thank you very much!

This is the coolest part about these matches. I will happily be beat by a guy who struggles at first, then works his ass off and passes me like I'm standing still. Glad to have you, and I wish I could be there to see you crush it in July!

I always do better chasing people than running from them anyway. It probably says something about my psyche.

I think we need to get the two of you together at a match before we can say that for sure.

But you'd better watch out for Nuttz - he gets a little TOO friendly at these matches.

Sprints Tonight

So Halfling, you got me thinking "...wonder how fast I can do 1.5 miles?". So tonight was sprints on the treadmill (normally 1/2 or 1 mile sprints) and I decided to make the first one 1.5miles. Each "sprint was followed by 1 mile at 6mph (10mile pace). Totaled 6.5 total miles when done and did abs and cal/cross fit for cool down.

1st Sprint - 1.5miles, started at 8.5mph and increased by .1mph every 1/4mile:

2nd Sprint - 1mile, started at 8.6mph and increased by .1mph every 1/4mile:

3rd Sprint - 1mile, started at 8.7mph and increased by .1mph every 1/4mile:

Getting it DONE hard charger!

Thanks for your inspiration! Six times I have come to this particular vacation, and even though I've brought running shoes each time, this is the first time I've actually used them. Yesterday afternoon I knocked out 4.5 miles in the 90 heat. Really, the only thing that kept me motivated was having a shower beer after all that...I guess the carrot on a stick may not always be a healthy one but it IS vacation right?? This morning, I went for a 5K at 6 AM, sub 8:30 pace which is good for me. And screw it, you know what? I'm going to challenge myself to a 2-a-day today, and try and run again this afternoon. Man, this has me thinking about how great it would be to be a sponsored athlete, where getting fit is your only job, and not having to deal with work and other adult responsibilities!

I would lecture you two about nerding out in front of females and scaring them off, but:

1. It's too late.
2. With all the other weird coincidences she just might be into Lord of the Rings too.

Ya gotta hide the crazy for a little bit longer next time, and dish it out in smaller doses. Most people can't handle the awesomeness that we are all at once.

No Halfling, she already made mention of Star Wars and with her other hobbies, I am willing to bet she has cracked the spine on Tolkien novel and rolled a twenty-sided die in the past.

Excellent!

I've been trying to get back to my long distance running...getting over IT band stuff, and doing the 2-milers at lunch a little faster. Actually shot some guns yesterday.

BTW Nuttz, Matt, B17, y'all are some freaking nerds. It took me a long time to understand what the heck kind of references y'all were making. I finally found the answer.

I guess I had it backwards. Nerding out in front of females is fine, but we have to go slow in front of Oklahomans. We don't want to frighten the flatlanders. Especially if they can outrun and outshoot us!

[QUOTE=kotengu;4423674] we have to go slow in front of Oklahomans. [QUOTE]

Yeah, that's always a good idea, we don't get much book-learnin around here. BTW - it's "Okies".

"Oklahomans" sounds like a national news geek is reporting on a tornado or brawl at Wal-Mart.
