SLR dust cover- no markings?

Were some L1A1 dust covers unmarked? I have one with some storage wear, but most of the parkerizing is there, and the tabs are intact. My eyes are really good, but I cannot see any markings at all.

Australian, most likely.

To the best of my knowledge: Aussie's didn't mark theirs. Enfield(D over E) stamped theirs on the body of the cover and on the tabs. BSA(B) stamped theirs on the tabs. Unsure about the Canadians, no experience with the C1-C2.

No absolute commonwealth authority, but I've done plenty of work with the Australians and their stuff and I've never seen a Lithgow proofed top cover. All of them I've had on original guns or TAPCO sellout and new, have been without proofs, some parked, some paint over park.

The Canadians used the stripper top covers when I was around them as a guest of the U.S. Army.

Thanks lads. I've handled a few Brit covers, and they were all marked.

There is also a very subtle difference in thickness.

How do the various makes of SLR top covers stack up to each other?

I hadn't noticed a difference, until a customer specifically requested an Aussie. Said his rails were really tight an the UK was too thick. So I checked, And whadyaknow.... UK is .01" heavier gauge and weighs 5 grams more than Aussie.

Nifty. Thanks for sharing that bit, Mark.

Anyone know what Aussie top covers in good condition are going for?
