My cutaway FAL

I ended up with one of those crappy CAI receivers and decided to make a cutaway out of it... A good way to use up those crappy parts. This is my first attempt and plan on making a mag for it...
along with a few more windowed areas.
I did this project with a Dremel, Sawsall, drill press, and my handy file.

Nice. I think I just found a use for my crappy CAI receiver.

Yes, it is a great use for a CAI receiver. I'm impressed you did all that without a mill. That's why I don't throw away messed up parts. Eventually I have enough for a complete rifle. Would love to do the next one in wood but only have messed up L1A1 wood.

All I have left is the bolt... lot of grinding...

I opened up the carrier and top cover on this side.

On this side I opened up the mag well and the mag catch.

I also found a use for that DSA mag I had laying around.
