Looking for valuation

Would like to get a ballpark value on this. It's a 1942 Colt with matching numbered slide. Doesn't have a period correct mag. Some pitting in the barrel.

TIA

I’m not up on my 1911s but even with some barrel pitting I wouldn’t think you’d have a problem getting at least $1500-1800 for that example. WW2 stuff has really gotten up there, esp anything with Colt or Winchester stamped on it.

This one sold last month with multiple bidders still going above the $2K mark.

For Colt guns go to the Colt collectors website with good pictures and they will pick out every flaw and give you a fair assessment of the value. Those guys really know Colts.

I have a 1943 vintage Remington Rand 1911A1 that's in about 85-90% condition, and it's worth (according to the Blue Book) $1500. I still can't believe that WW II stuff is going for that much. I paid $125 for it in 1988, and I thought that was at the high end of what it was worth then. Sure glad now that I bought it. But good grief, what it's worth now is mind boggling. I also have a mint condition (99%) Walther P38 1944 dated (built by Mauser) with original magazine that isn't worth anywhere near with the Remington Rand is worth.

I think values given are close to what it is worth. Looks to have original finish and is a good looking 1911A1.
