Stop the (WOOD) Presses!

Holy FREAKIN' obscure rude references, Batman!

I know this is a WOOD thread, but I have GOT to know about the finish on Sudden Death's purty Stg-58!

I'd like to rub it with my tongue. To... uh... check it for rough spots?
Yeah, thats it....

Ok, time for some wood from my favorite craftsman, Blue Monster. Here are some pictures he sent me of the type "A" he made me. One day I'll get off my ass and put this lower together!

Dave what is the purpose of the notched cut on stock, will it allow the locking catch lever to completely rotate to the open position?

Look at FaNaticAL!'s post #104 and you will see a Type "A" lower and stock. Yes, that is the reason as the ears on the type "A" extend farther forward on the lower.

I bought an extra set of Izzy handguards for my Izzy mod just to try this out. Some of you may say "cool," some of you might cry "sacrilege!"

I used Rustoleum spray-on truck bed liner on both sides. It deadened the sound, and it's a very durable non-glare and very non-slip surface. I like it.

This is my butt, it has a crack. Been that way as long as I've had it.

Just recently got this one exactly like this. I'm trying to decide what to do with it. I'm thinking about doing the cross-grain inset repair, leave most of the scratches and dings in it except for "x"s that appear intentional, slapping some stain and tung oil on it then putting it on the Ugly Stick. I'll then put away the Type C for some other time.

G1 stocks aren't cheap even in less than perfect condition. This one has the number "84" stamped right behind the tang, whatever that means.

Just finished steaming out a few dings on this 50 year old primo G1 stock, lightly sanded with two coats of Tung oil, and applied a dab of Birchwood/Casey Stock Sheen & Conditioner to tone down the gloss to a satin finish.

just to keep the thread alive ... here's another recycled Type B & PG ... both were cracked ... you can still see where ... these are on a shooter so I'll test my repairs ... typical kit stock & PG ... cleaned with my patented method and lightly stained to match, then lightly oiled ...

here's a first for the "Wood Thread" ...

Yes, this is Blue Monster! I was going to wait until this was mounted properly BUT I just couldn't hold unto my wood much longer!
Anyway here it is now, I will be adding to the post in a week or so then again in the very near future with a couple real nice builds I have in the making!

Thank you and you know you just don't see wood like this anymore. It came on a Singapore contract SLR I purchased about 22 years ago and I knew it was Brit and incorrect, and finally replaced it with some nice early Aussie wood I got from L/FN.
The photo's just don't do the grain justice.

Wood refinishing

I,d have to agree with EX-1 on Dakto,s wood refinishing. Simply OUTSTANDING Dakto.

Jugrunner, I think you,ve found your second calling, That kit gun wood refinishing looks real nice.

LaConservationist, That BM wood looks really, really NICE, Almost too nice for an assault.

To the rest, Nicely done for sure. Lee.
