CZ 75 compact. Range report.

I just picked up a N.I.B. 75 compact for $461 shipped. I bought it for my wife to try out but I'll keep it if she doesn't like it. I've always wanted one. I almost went the TZ-75 route back in the 80's but went with a Taurus.

Update: Just returned from a trip to the range. The little CZ shoots like a dream! Decent trigger and accurate. My wife and her buddy love it and couldn't get over how nice the trigger is compared to the striker fired pistols they have been trying out.

Give us your thoughts when you get your hands on it. I don't really have a need for a 9x18 handgun. However, the CZ-75 Compact is one of the few handguns that I don't have, but that I really wish I did. I've heard nothing but good things about them.

A Cz75 compact is should be a 9x19, not sure of they sell a 40S&W model in the compact.

Earlier this year I bought a Tristar C100 in 9x19 for my wife since she really wanted a CZ75 compact to go with her CZ75 pre b.

My son also bough a C100 at the same time, the 2 pistols came in with sequential numbers, that an extra "nice to have."

Of course, you are right. 9x19 not 9x18 as I'd typed.

I'm going to the range today. I haven't owned a 9mm in many years. I am shocked at how tiny the ammo is compared to 45 acp and 357.

A CZ75 compact is next on my buy list. I'm still trying to decide between that and the PCR though.

I've been doing my research but would appreciate more information. Anyone here own or have any side by side experience with these?

PCR is awesome. Recommend trijicon sights for it though. The regular compact (steel frame) is too heavy for everyday carry in my opinion.

Be mindful of damage to firing pin retaining pin.

Potshot, could you elaborate on firing pin retaining pin please?

Sure, the firing pin chews into the roll pin that retains it, which jams the firing pin.
Cajun Gun Works sells a roll pin and firing pin that address the issue.

Got to say that the Compact is my favorite all around, but Potshot is right about the PCR being the better for a carry piece. The compact has a bit less muzzle flip and allows for faster follow up shots. The PCR is still a hefty pistol at 1.71 lbs., but about 1/3rd pound less weight than the Compact, noticeable difference.

The PCR is equipped with a Decocker Lever, and the Compact has a Manual Safety, at least in my examples.

Either one is a good choice in my book.

I'll probably buy a compact PCR for my wife because of the weight. I'll have her shoot it and my compact and give her the one she likes most. A few ounces don't matter to me but they do to her. She's a new pistol shooter and recoil still bothers her.

I got a CZ75 Compact D last year. Best little pistol I have owned. I shoot it every other week for my LGS Tactical Match. No problems after 1K rounds. Nice trigger, decocker only, 14+1, and added XS Big Dot front sight. It is now my primary carry pistol for almost all occasions.

Tac, make sure to look at the Cajun Gun Works firing pin and retaining pin if you are using it for carry. I have ceased carrying mine until I get new parts (no issue with the PCR yet only the SP01). Hope all is well down in SC.

AZ Dave if you think the PCR is hefty you'll be surprised at the standard steel compact weight (I was).

My PCR is a tackdriver.

I already own a steel frame compact and the weight doesn't bother me. The plan is to buy a PCR alloy frame and see if the wife can tolerate the extra recoil.

I hefted the compact and was surprised at the weight.

I have a P07 and am still looking at the PCR or the P01. I’m leaning toward the PCR.

They have to wait until i get the shadow 2.

ETA despite my moniker I would prefer a steel on alloy for carry.

That's a really good price for a 75 compact...
In my neck of the woods they are running over $500 and usually around the $550-$565 range! ouch!..Absolutely love them tho...still plan on getting one!
