Should I assume CA fires just happened?

Because I think tossing matches in CA would be an all-too-easy way to strain resources I'm compelled to question such events.

Back in the 70's/80's the fire bug would take a book of matches, insert a quarter into the back of the matches, close the matchbook cover with a lit cigarette on top of the matches and toss it out the window of a travelling car.

A time delayed fire ignition device. Cheap and easy.

I really hate that so much has burned down in kali this year. Add to that they raised the state tax to 13.4% and drought restrictions which will drive kalifornicators north by the buss load.

2017 was a huge rain/snow year on the west coast. Which meant lots of vegetation growth...Then lots of dry Sage brush, and brown kindling after the rains stopped in the late spring. That said, these fires happen every year out here. They are nothing new.

Santa Ana's are warm dry winds that blow between 20-40 mph. Once the Santa Ana's begin to blow the fires start. October through December is fire season in SoCal. The real fun comes in the winter time when all those freshly burned hillsides begin moving in the rains. Never could understand why anyone would build a house on a hillside in California.

^^^^^^^^^ this

its the same old, same old

clear brush, limb up 10 feet on trees make it hard for a big fire to get rolling

and hillsides .........

without serious engineering work ........

they all will come sliding down, and your time and money goes w/ them

Would that be the fires or California Progressives?

Looks like I was partially right about at least one of the fires out there: Fire at a homeless encampment sparked Bel-Air blaze that destroyed homes, officials say

yeah, i threw an easy one to the spellin dorks.

back in '89 someone in my usmc company threw a green smoke signal grenade which started a huge fire on camp pendleton near camp margarita along the santa margarita river. shut down i-5, made the tv news, ch-53's dropping water, lets just say the situation was "tense". the whole company liked to got toasted in the high vegetation in the river bed but the fleeing mob managed to run to safety, highly motivated we were. overall, pretty good training.
