Irish Contract
Hello...
I have one of the so-called Irish Contract Enfield Mk 4s which I bought new quite a few years ago. I have never fired it. Once in awhile I hear remarks about the value of these rifles and an area gun shop has one on sale as a consignment gun for over $1500. I am wondering if these rifles are bringing much these days and if the figure the gun shop has on it, which, of course, includes their sales commission, is anything like realistic. It is a nice gun but a lot of them were sold on the surplus market, when I bought mine, and that usually brings prices down, not up.

Think $1500 is a bit much, even wrapped with all accessories.
I have two UF55's, which are just as nice, and the most I ever paid for any Enfield is $350. So far I have not sold any yet.. ![]() |

For an unissued one, I would expect around $650-750.

I have an unwrapped UF55 still in the cosmoline just with the paper pulled off. Paid $ 500 for it several years ago.
Still wrapped up with all the goodies- $800 -$850 would be in the ballpark.

I have one of the Irish contract Fazakerlys. Bought it brand new in 1995. Like a dumbass, I used it for WWII reenacting for a few years. It's still in good shape though, and a great shooter.
