Dean’s Gun Restoration for Garand work?

Any of you guys have experience with Dean’s Gun Restoration out of Tennessee? Have a Garand rec I’d like built into a match grade rifle. Any input is appreciated.

I have no experience with DGRs work.

I am not accepting any new work for at least 180 days.

That said, my recommendation would be Ted Brown.

Tell him Terry Bridwell referred you.

Maybe Gus Fisher, if you can find him.

I believe Dean passed some time back, and the business was taken over by his assistant. Beyond that, I have no comment - my Garands get reworked by Tim Shufflin to accept detachable magazines, I'm not a 'match' guy.

Of course! Why didn't I think think of Gus first? I used to see him at shows around here on occasion. Thanks

Dean did an M1 rebarrel to .308 for me and also built up a CMP receiver into a rifle with the parts I had accumulated. Both were done well and quickly. I can't speak for the new owner but I hear she does good work.

DGR had been my source for Critereon barrels for myself and my customers - good prices and fast shipping. It's been a while since I've ordered as I'm only accepting FAL work at this time.

Never had any gunsmith work done but I did buy a new 1917 barrel from them. Very nice barrel, smooth transaction and timely shipping. I would order from them again.

Had Dean work on a couple of M1s and M1As, been happy with his work. Didn't realize he has passed, sorry to hear that.
