PRE K31 Swiss Rifle Q??

Hey Guy's whats the scoop on the Longer barreled SWISS rifles that where Pre K31?
I believe the rifle in question to be a Model 1889??

The one in Q has much diff sights, a mag that moves up and down by not out, and it has a much longer bolt..

Are these the same Caliber as the K31, do they shoot well, & what would be the approximate value on one with matching numbers a pristine bore but light rust on the receiver?

Well, there was the grand daddy of them all, the M1889. It fires 7.5x53 which is a bit weaker than the 7.5x55. Then there was the M96/1911. Then there was the M1911 and the K11. The M1889 has a much more prouncouned magazine and looked much older than the 1911 style rifles. Pristine and all matching is not un-common. I think prices have stabililzed around $475. The 96/11 and 1911 are similar in appearance. The K11 is the carbine version and can be differentiated by the magazine and the handguard, with which there is wood between the rear sight and the receiver ring, unlike the K31. If I hurry, I can get a pic of a M1889, a M1911 a K11 and a K31 all in the same picture. The K11 is sold and will be shipping soon. What a sweet rifle!! As is the M1911.

Accurate as hell to, I think it has a 26" barrel

Big 5 had the K31's on sale for $89.........so I bought 3.

I have some ammo for those old swiss rifles, not K31, the older one.

These are all beautiful, well-made rifles. You do want to use a low-power load for the 1889 to be careful with that old girl. The moving magazine (12-rounds!) is of course a magazine-disconnect feature.

Mike, here's my K11. It's the carbine version of course of the Model 1911 rifle. This one is a 1928 model. Although they are similar to the K31, there is a big difference in how they feel. The K11 seems much lighter and "handier", if that's a word.

Some beautiful rifles, works of art! Having never gone to war they are usually in good shape... They are interesting and have been since my early teen years, but have never gotten one, and have only once seen one in a shop... I I'D it right off and the shop guy was surprised, said it had been in for quite awhile and no one had ever before recognised it. One old guy I met had been using his for deer since the 1950s or so and never felt the need for anything else. Glad that some of these rifles (and ammo!) have made it back into the country.
