Question Got a 556 question.

I have a 556 Classic I bought July of 2009 and it was made (according to the tag on the hard case) 3/2009 and I've never shot it. Would you ? I'm kind of getting around to the keep shoot/ sell state of mind and wondered what to do ? Thanks, John.

My absolute favorite shooter, personally. ARs are boring.
Maybe rent one and try it out first if you are that worried about it.

Here's a SIG 556 SWAT that just sold for about $1200

https://www.gunbroker.com/item/815552141

SIGs are nice rifles - but they hardly fall in the class of collector guns (unless you are talking SWISS made variants). US made SIG 556 rifles are readily available at about this price point. I doubt that shooting it a little is going to impact the value of the rifle.

If you don't realize it these rifles are very closely related to Daewoo K2s - in that they are long stroke AK type 5.56mm rifles using USGI mags. So anyone familiar with a Daewoo would be right at home with a SIG 556

Go shoot it.

If you've got a SIG 556 with the original factory stock (not the original SWISS factory stock) this is what you need.

https://ddles.com/shop?olsPage=produ...-stock-adapter

It will let you put any AR stock on the SIG

and if you use this you can expand your stock universe even more.

Yeah, I thought about using one of these to put a collapsible/folding MCX stock on the 556. Haven't got around to it...

This should take the "thinking" right out of it. The DDLES adapter came today - so it immediately went on the SIG 556

The MCX stock, with the KNS 1913 adapter, on the back of the DDLES SIG 556 adapter. The length of pull is equivalent to the intermediate position on the SIG factory stock. If you need a little more you could always add a three slot riser between the stock and the KNS adapter. For me its just perfect

The MCX stock is solid aluminum with the attachment end being solid steel. It locks up nice and tight on the rifle.

In the right hand folded position there is enough clearance to operate the bolt and fire the rifle. This was the only thing that I was not sure about when I started this. I couldn't find any confirmation on the internet that this would work this way on the SIG 556.

The other advantage of this set up is that it is an ambidextrous folder. It will fold left or right. Folds right on the DDLES adapter hinge. Folds left on the MCX stock hinge. This is a significant improvement on the SIG 556 factory US stock.

I absolutely love it. Photos below

Interesting configuration. Love those MFI sights! I wish that I could use them on mine, but all are 4 bolt 1913 rails.

I agree 100%^^^^. If I could only keep one long gun, it would be my Sig 556.

I wish ! It's the standard stock configuration. I'd prefer to put on a Fishgill front/rear stockset on it.
