2018 Spring Shoot Attendance Thread

I'm starting this thread because 3 weeks ago they started construction and closed the last paved road you all take before turning off on the farm road. I want to get a list of drivers attending, so I can PM directions to get you through the construction with the least amount of problems. I will send the PM 3 or 4 days before the shoot. I need to see what they have torn up and where they are, to figure out the best way to get you in.

Also, after much deliberation with in "the committee". We are going to ask for a $20 donation per shooter to help defer some of the costs associated with range maintenance and putting on the shoot. I'm sorry to have to ask and hope you all understand.

Here's who I have on the list for super secret road directions:

4X401
Elkaholic
Nickmil
MislsurpMonkey
12V71
old spambo
Exit308
Tuscan Raider
krisincolfax
308/223shooter
otis61
MajHenryWest
JonnyP

I will PM directions tomorrow night.

Thanks,

I plan on attending. Won't be able to be there until Friday late or Saturday morning. Most likely will be driving up by myself.

I also have no problem contributing. I'm grateful for the place to have fun and the cool people there!

If it's closed from Travis to 221, how're we to get to the range, without going cross country?

Not to worry. "Ve have Vays".

As we get closer to the shoot, I will talk to the road guys and find the way that pisses them off the least. They are usually pretty easy to work with. We (local farmers) are going around and through there all the time with tractors, trucks, etc. now. So it's just a matter of letting them know that 30 of my closest friends have to get through that weekend and getting you guys directions.

We need to leave a few cases of beer along side the road?

Been looking forward to it for two years now , will be more of a social
thing for me rather than serious shooting , just want to get a little range time in and meet all the crazy folks ...

After a little thought guess it's only been a year , but seems like two

I don't remember Sellards Rd being in bad condition at all. Ive seen far worse roads all over Washington.

Why are they resurfacing Sellards, Dave???/

It is the major east/west farm to market road and was really washboardy from the truck traffic. It also gets lots of trucks from long haulers going around the scales on I82. They’ve been going to rebuild it for 4 or 5 years. Finally got there funding ducks in a row. They are going to munch up the old asphalt, lay it back down and pave over it.

I think I'll be there with at least one in tow. Can't tell for sure till we get closer. Work has been really hectic. Super busy. It's getting better right now, but could turn back at any moment. I'll make sure to post.

Sure nice to know there's timber still being harvested in Oregon.

Glad your busy Otis!

Still planning on coming - Tommy is out due to Baseball. I'm in England until the day before, but planning on being there assuming there are no major snags. I won;t have the RV and happy to go cross country in the Landy :-)

Cross country, in a Landy, in the same sentence?

Just don't get it in your head to go overland at the Yakima Range. Stay on the Freeway.

Just thinking about hiway safety is all. I've been in a Landy, they're not fast, but very tactical.
Would love to own one actualy, just not in the cards for me, I'll have to stick with the Subby.

Joking apart, it's a pretty interesting drive. Down here in the valley, which is probably 1000 above MSL it's fine, chugs along happily at 60mph. It takes a wee while to get there of course. Around town, it's fine although my arm muscles are growing from the lack of PAS.

The only time it shows its skirt is climbing up to the pass - as low as 45mph and third gear for the run up to the summit. Altitude pus wheezy breath makes for an exciting/interesting ride!

Of course being a complete anal retentive, I'm off to the UK on Thursday and will be detouring to Cheltenham to inspect the 300 TDI motor I 'bought now' after a lengthy session on the JW Blue label

On the electrical side - two wires, one to the glow plugs/injectors, one to the ignition, so there's that.

What happens if they decide to break from road repair, and join us for a few stages of lead slinging?

The biggest problem with religion is those who claim to know Jesus, then turn around and deny Him with their lifestyle. That is what a unbelieving world, simply finds unbelievable.

Before you die, you should have a will with extra copies. The old saying "No one will screw you faster than family" is bloody well true.

As long as they have their 20 bucks, they are in.

We should have a best route advisory up by Monday.

Think they'd be up for building you a stellar road from Sellards to the home stead? Maybe a few nice black top pads to park campers on as well? How much booze you think would be needed for that kind of bribery?

The last time I did anything with asphalt paving it was with an outfit right down the road from Dave's and the stuff was 125$ a ton in 2002, a ton will cover about an 8 foot square at 2.5 inches thick. I have no idea what the price is now, but I will keep that booze for myself.

Aside from locking shoulders, is there anything else I should bring parts wise for a traditional build?

Dang it.

You all have fun. See you in June at the Oregon thang, or in October for the fall shoot.
