M/D Frozen Nutz Shoot 1/26/2019

Well it's that time of year again. Looks like Saturday 1/26/19 will be the day of the shoot. As always, boozing and camping Friday and Saturday nights. Maybe we will have snow buy then!

The next time I hear "THE RANGE IS NOW HOT", it just wont be the same.

Max tried another question. "What sort of people live about here?"
"In THAT direction," the Jin said, waving its right paw round, "lives a Han: And in THAT direction," waving the other paw, "lives a Ming Hare. Visit either you like: they're both mad."
"But I don't want to go among mad people," Max remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Jin: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Max.
"You must be," said the Jin, "or you wouldn't have come here."

Snort some horseradish, it’ll clear out your sinuses and nasal hairs.

we have steel at 25-600 yards, and a neighbor on the other side of the road that comes into our camp area that is a bit nuts. otherwise just a bunch of good guys and a generous host.

Mason-Dixon Range Rules
safety:

1.) mason dixon shoots are a "wet range", except during frozen nutz, when they are a "cold range" (-32* and falling) mags are loaded all the time. bring 'em loaded. the rain will foul them or the frozen fingers will fumble rounds. you are expected to insert one on arrival, and chamber a round. each man is his own safety supervisor. handguns are expected to be on your hip at all times. 1911 type required, locked and loaded.

2.) guns should be pointed at what you plan to shoot. all shooters are required to be on the line as much as possible. no more blowing up junk cars, and if you bring a flamethrower, bring good fuel or fix the damned pilot flame.

3.) alcohol is required. all persons should emulate the "justashooter technique", which involves downing one water glass of homemade apple wine between each mag dump. each man judges his own intoxication level, but when the fuzz pulls across the firing line, mike tells them to put the AK in the trunk.

4.) there is no "range officer". we don't have no steenking badge to give you. there is no office at the range anyway, but roger and brian keep trailers there.

5.) do not attempt to see if a flare will come straight back down if you shoot it straight up, byron

range commands:

1. The following range commands will be in use throughout mason dixon shoots:

a.) shoot

b.) shoot again

c.) stop shooting when you run out of ammo , or the fuzz pulls across the firing line

d.) "don't shoot at the fuzz surveilance plane" means just that, brian, especially with tracers

scoring:

1.) you have scored when the mag is empty

2.) extra points for hitting the plate

matches:

1.) bring some to start the campfire

a.) byron, remember to drag some firewood to the firepit with your front axle

falling down match:

1.) each guy is expected to fall down after 10 beers

2.) the rate of falling should match the rate of beer consumption

3.) no falling down the bank behind the tents while pissing at night

general conduct:

1.) we should each conduct ourselves like generals

2.) arbiters are not required (roger is the boss - it's his place, unless we're building guns at my place or jim's)

3.) don't create a wave into paul's tent. he is already wet from sleeping in the puddle.

4.) no hillbilly x-rays allowed, or hillbilly MRE's

5.) no gourmet cuisine for the washington crowd. you make the rest of the guys jealous

6.) pallets of ammo must be stacked neatly. karl, you must share

7.) if you borrow roger's ATV for a ride to ogletown, run it into windber to the carwash before returning

8.) no comments starting with "well iain't no racist, but i saw me two..."

I followed the instructions on Google Maps, got the lat lon, and have plotted a route. (Taking rt22). The satellite shows the last turn to the left (on w pines) is a big loop, I assume I will find you guys around there.

I plan on bringing, besides the STG-58, a SCAR 17S, H&R Handi-Rifle in 300BO suppressed, maybe a few others.

Don't forget to remind the nooby about the ammo tithe. 10% of your ammo has to be left with Roger.

Gee, with all that said, I might bring a gun! Making a big pork butt for pulled pork. Did someone say it could be a test?

The snow is getting deeper up here. If the weather keeps up over next week, a 4 wheel driver might be needed to get into the camp. Planning on arriving at the camp around 5:00 pm on Friday.

I want to come to one of your shoots and meet the PA crowd one day, but tell me when you have a shoot planned when "sunny & 70".

I promise to withhold any toxic masculinity from spilling out

Spring or fall shoot then for you fair weather southerners scared of a little white stuff, even if it is a few feet deep.

My plan always was to show up Saturday Morning. And I drive a Wrangler, so snow doesn't scare me.

Scott,
Might have to go to the camp and unload first. Then we will be able to do the shuttle.

Weather???????????? I broke a trail in last night, and it was like 4"-6" of snow with a crust on top. Yesterday it was -10 degrees in the morning and went up to the high 30's in the afternoon. Today it is in the high 30's and raining. I'm sure buy Friday things will be a ******* mess to get in. Keep ya posted.

Update.
Rain and warmer temps melted down the snow and crust into packed in icy shit the other day. Drove up in last night and had a good trail packed in. Now the bad news. We got dumped on with about 6" last night at my house, so their should be about the same amount at the property. Guess as long as it stays cold, it shouldn't turn into a mess.

Good luck guys!

Post pics.

Good think for K. Funk bringing a couple of extra people, otherwise...

It was good to see some old friends and meet some new ones. Hope everyone had a good time and made it home ok in the winter weather. I don't have any pics to post, maybe someone else has. Till the Spring.
