Star model B

Well, one gun I never expected to own.... Picked one up today (since This is C&R.... It has the Spanish air force stamp on the slide and matching Sn frame)

9mm largo, buddy had several B's and supers and shot both largo and NATO through them. Just shot half a mag of 9mms blazer off the porch with no issues. (Dark, rain, just Checking function.)

But holy HELL! I just looked for mags.
I know they have a bunch in recently at cheap prices (so I imagine they raised the mag prices) but.... $40! (I gave $170 for the gun)
I don't believe in owning a gun and only one mag, but I can't see paying $40\mag... Might have to look at a few Gunshow and if no luck let it go down the road.

Who has them for $40? I can't seem to find them anywhere else.

Thanks, I love my Star B and would like to have at least one extra mag. Even at 40 bucks.

What is it that makes them feel so good in your hand? I have 1911s, but the Star feels better... Maybe a balance thing?

That's nothing. Try finding an Astra model 1921/400 Navy mag with the side tab.

You can't have them.

They came with the pistol and holster back with my grandfather after the battle of the bulge.

He said officers kept stealing all the Lugers and Walthers....

OK, who wants to break up an heirloom?

Do one thing, though. Measure the top of the mag, heel to lip across the follower. If the length is about 37mm then you have a model 400/1921 navy that pre-dates WW2. If the length is less then you probably have a WW2 German contract model 600 in 9mm parabellum. These are FAR more common and OFTEN confused with 9mm Largo. You should also have waffenamt marks around the trigger guard area.

The Largo would have been unusual for German troops to use in the field at that time and with the ordinance concerns they would have had.
