Glocks Work. Period. End of story.

I wrote this up for a buddy who was caught up in typical gun forum debates over Glock and how Glock does not "innovate" and ... well, you know how it goes. FWIW...

Re. Glock and innovation...
Here's the deal...Glock has provided the world with the most combat-tested, combat-proven firearm ever invented, selling hundreds of millions of them. They are easy to use. Easy to maintain. Easy to shoot. A trained monkey can field strip them. An average IQ human can detail strip them. There are tens of thousands of after-market parts and gizmos for them. You can customize them to your heart's content.

But on the other hand, they perform reliably and consistently right out of the box, even with their stock crappy sights. They get the job done. They are intended to be and always have been combat-accurate handguns useful for CQB situations of every description. They are legendarily resistant to abusive environmental conditions and abusive human operators.
Glock does not need to "innovate" ... they just need to keep their quality control strong and keep churning out these marvelous polymer-framed wonder guns.

The Glock inspires endless online debates among mostly keyboard warriors who have never gone in harms way, never experienced the terror and thrill of the two-way range and have never heard, let alone fired, a single bullet fired in anger in their lives, and hopefully never will. Let these types debate, whine, cry and otherwise bitch/moan/debate about Glock not "innovating" all they want. The rest of us will just smile and nod and say, "That's nice, honey."
Glocks work. Period. End of story.

I’ve been shooting Glocks pretty regularly since late 1998 and while I’m by no means an “expert,” I have shot them extensively with thousands upon thousands of rounds downrange in the last 20 years. IMO they are unquestionably the best handgun out there on the market.

Sure, there are plenty of other good guns and many like the variety of having different semi-auto handguns. Personally, I’m used to the Glock manual of arms, I shoot them well, I have a plethora of compatible magazines, and if I want another one, it doesn’t exactly break the bank...esp compared with some of the HKs and SIGs out there (which are fine guns).

Aside from theee 1911s, every other semi-auto handgun I own is a Glock...mostly in 9mm and .45. They just work and work and work.

Even as a dedicated Glock “fanboy,” I can definitely agree with you Jim, they are ugly as hell, esp the 19X (which I shamelessly own two of).

Never got into Glocks but like most firearms ( well, like most everything ! ) what works for someone is the most important thing. A pretty face doesn't tell the whole story
Hell, I hate Hk91s, but for the folks that have them, like them, and shoot them , I say good on ya, enjoy !!

while I agree they work, I would have to say the hi power is more combat tested, they were on both sides of WW2 and every major conflict since...

You have to think of Glocks as the Craftsman tool of the gun world. When your friends come over you show them your toolbox full of Snap-On tools, but when you have a job to get done you rely on the Craftsman tools. Same with the Glock. The work. They go bang every time. Works for me.

Ya got to tie the supplied factory string, spares are only 69.50 shipped, around the slide and frame to keep them together, after that, all is good.

Glocks are great guns for cops and criminals alike. High magazine capacity, point gun pull trigger and sooner or later you will hit something. They run so well it takes no thinking on their operation and you can put out a wall of bullets in firepower. What's not to love?

And Glocks kaboom and 1911's aren't accurate unless "tuned" to the point of hopeless ammo sensitivity and so-on and so-on

Only cops and criminals, eh?

A somewhat myopic comment in my jaded opinion...

And 'sooner or later you will hit something'... ?

I am rarely as honest about my shooting ability as you are...

I have a Glock 19 and shot several of my friends. I have a couple Hi Powers, a Beretta M9 and several 1911. The only one that has ever had a FTF is my Colt LW Commander. Out of them all I love my ‘69 Hi Power.

You shot several of your friends with a Glock 19??

I have a 1968 LW Commander and as much as I like it, it isn’t the most reliable handgun that’s for sure. I’m assuming your ‘69 HP is a T-Series? They are sweet indeed...

Don’t worry Mike, I haven’t shot the G19 in at least a year. The 1911s and HPs get most range time.

Actually the ‘69 is not a T series. Serial number 69C

Nazi Hi Power. Haven’t shot it yet.

Just to be 100% clear, I don't want to be shot with those either!

At least they would kill me in a "respectable manner" however

T-Series and C-Series guns are easily the finest HPs ever mfg’d. I used to have a 1972 C-series that I really regret parting with. Love the round hammer and external extractor on these guns. Yours looks like a primo example.

So did they ever find the bodies?

First pistol I ever bought was a T series Browning, loved that pistol.

Took me a while to warm up to a Glock, and the first one I bought was actually the 10mm. Never care for the Beretta, fine pistol but too ugly. Don't have much of a liking of the 1911, mostly because of the 45 cartridge. But I just bough a Delta Elite, also a 10mm..

If it has sights that you can see, a trigger that you can tolerate, and is absolutely 100 percent reliable- who cares who made it ?

At 66 I have traveled a great deal and even in a war zone. I have never fired a shot in anger and probably never will so I really don't know my shooting ability under fire.

I am sure some of you guys have seen the elephant but from what I see it's mostly cops and criminals chasing elephants with glocks.

I punched the point-man of a 4-man robbery team in the face with a loaded Model 10 just five blocks north of the White House.

He did a back-flip and stuck in the bushes with his legs flailing akimbo while the other less-committed members of his team whent assholes and elbows toward the White House.

Akimbo man freed himself from the bushes and fled while I was aiming a the other three assholes.

Or at least I assumed it was a robbery. Something about the demand for money made me think it.

Pretty hilarious when I arrested him in the station cellblock a few weeks later when I recognized him as the METRO Transit Police were booking him on other charges.

Obviously, I didn't have to see whether the Model 10 worked that day. But, I'm pretty sure it still does.

The elephants have Glocks now ???? Well, that's going to make the hunt a lot more interesting

If an elephant has a Sig, does that mean the cops and criminals don't chase him ?

I read that it takes about 20 seconds for an elephant to have a piss.

About that same interval for almost all mammals.

Not sure why I find that fascinating or significant.

Maybe if you walk up on a grizzly bear in the middle of a piss, you can bear that in mind regarding how much time you have to escape. Now, if YOU ar in the middle of a piss when the griz appears, I'd recommend that you just go with the wet-legs option, and get started pronto.

Not sure about a hungry bears' priorities but I am pretty sure if a bear gets in the house, I can and will piss as I run

An interesting factoid, nonetheless !

I was at the Phoenix zoo and was really impressed with how long it took a rhinoceros to empty his bladder. Wife and daughter were just as amazed at the firehose ability. Ya about 20 seconds and a yellow river of piss.

Like I said I have never seen the elephant.

I never understood exactly what it was about Glocks that I didn’t like. I love my 1911’s and I wished my Colt was a Glock. Then one day I heard Chuck Pressburg creature of the Roland Special say “Glocks have no soul” and then it all made sense to me. I love my new G45, and it just is what it is.

Old school here;

Works left or right handed, or in those really troubled times, with both hands, always sighted in, always has a full magazine, can engage multiple targets at ease, and does not print under a tee shirt nor draw unwanted attention as one strolls down the country lanes.

Women, small children, even little guys can operate with a minimum of training, and is not prone to stoppages, breakages, in normal usage.

Simply perfection.

The Glock vs ? has been beat to death. I'm just watching you guys with that big #7 Kahle hook in your lips. This is almost as good as a 5.56 vs 5.45 thread.

Reliable solid state technology. Also if you roll over on it while you're sleeping it won't go off or cut you.

Yeah, I was popping a torso plate at 100 yards with my Gen 1 Glock 17 and iron sights. The dueling tree at 25 yards was boring.
