Finally got a Luger:

And a CZ-52:

Not pictured, but I scooped up a really nice Uberti/Cimarron 1873 (Winchester) reproduction. Thing is absolutely amazing to shoot.

1951 Savage 99EG .300 Savage

While it's not a military arm, my latest Savage 99 is a C&R purchase, so I hope you don't mind. This is a 1951 Savage 99EG in .300 Savage caliber, with Schnabel fore-arm and 24" barrel. I stripped off an awful polyurethane finish and hand-rubbed three applications of 1/3 BLO, 1/3 turpentine and 1/3 melted beeswax.

Nothing brag-worthy today, but did come home with two trinkets.

1942 U.S. Property marked No4Mk1*, all matching, with WW2 and post-independence marks for the Union of South Africa. (Import marked... boo, hiss)

And a Helwan to beat up...

Any Enfield fans? Got a second Irish contract No4 Mk2, bluing is pretty good and bore is near perfect. Stock is a little beat up though. :-/
The SN is almost exactly 3000 from my other one and even made in the same month! Nothing like having doubles... lol

Only had a chance to grab an iPhone picture. Kind of want a South African and Australian Enfield as well but I never see them where I live.

older family portrait

most recent addition; 1947 No.5 Mk I (F) (thanks RG)

1955 UF 55 No. 4 Mk II

I have one other Enfield, a sweet-shooting Longbranch 2-groove barrel that I bought from another ol' Texas boy named Perry Turner. I gotta get some pics of that one fast. Thanks for taking a look!

Thanks HDH! I bought it from a police officer in Indianapolis a few years ago. He claimed it was one of two "mummy wrapped" Enfields he owned. He left one wrapped and sold this one. It may not ever be shot be me; heirs can decide that.

I don't think its had a round chambered since it left the factory in 1955. It is pretty cool to handle it and think, it's a brand new rifle, built way back then. Way back! Why, I was going on 3 years old myself!

Since we are hardly sticking properly to C&Rs, I'll add this to the mix.

We discovered this Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife under my uncle's mattress. Upon researching it, I found that it is a 2nd Pattern knife with "reversed knurled" grip, and a broad arrow ^9 mark. This is apparently "exceptionally rare" among collectors, with only a couple known examples in the wild. I currently have an inquiry in with the premier author on the matter.

Careful observers would pitifully whine that the sheath does not match. They'd be correct.

That is interesting, looks to be some type of commando knife.

When I have a chance I will gather up all my Bayonets and do a photo shoot.

For now here is my SA dagger.

Nice SA dagger. We have one "in the family" that I'll eventually be caretaker of.

Don't know if I've posted this here before. 1840s Belgian pinfire Howdah with integral bayonet. There is one other matching example in a museum, and one similar (different grip, same gun) that was at an auction.

I tried to make a custom stand for it. She's a little wobbly. One hit on the table leg from the Roombah and she goes down like a prom dress. My living room is not OSHA compliant.

A beautiful snowy range day, fitting of a Finn. My groups looked like I'd used a shotgun, and I gave not one shit. Bolt action rifles sound better in the falling snow

I can't stand toe to toe on German stuff... Let's start a French fight instead.

Just got back from a business trip. Picked up this little girl: P14, matching bolt, no import or export marks, no Weedon overhaul! This one looks like it snuck out early. Volleys intact! Update: Pulled the wood, matching barrel, 1917.

And also got a Vector clone. Sure, sure... it's not an HK. I did swap in a metal lower so I could pretend it's from the 70s.

Currently in negotiations for an HK91 w/ bipod and Fero scope, but it'll cost me my AR70, and I'm just not excited about that.

Have an old Frenchie coming in this week, hopefully.

I can't bring myself to invest in AKs, but you make them look good.

I went to a show today. Ditched my non-matching FTRed P14 and a 7mm FN49 (bad bore, non matching). Brought home a reddish grip for my newly refinished AKM, a refurb SKS (letter gun, matching), and an MSAR. The MSAR was only $1275 out the door, so... whatever.

Here's my Fairbairn-Sykes contribution.

[IMG][/IMG]

This was given to be by my good friend and co-worker Carlos. His father was a paratrooper in WWII, acquiring the stiletto in England prior to his Normandy Jump. Carried it throught Europe, until the end of the war. Passed it on to his son/my friend, who served as an artillery forward observer, and later with 5th Special Forces Group in Vietnam. We were Parole Officers together, and knowing I was a former Marine, talked me into joining his National Guard unit (2/162 Infantry, Oregon National Guard). He gave it to me shortly before he retired from the Parole & Probation office. Sadly, he suffered greatly from PTSD and excrutiating back pain, and committed suicide about seven years ago. He was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star with V, Purple Heart, and Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.

Rest in Peace, Carlos.

If you want a Nice AK bid on this. IMHO best AK ever made.

*sigh*. Won't be getting fancy AKs with all this other stuff popping up.

Got an email about a gentleman half an hour away with an interesting SKS. I'm slightly over my usual budget for the month now.

All matching with US and Vietnamese papers...

And I got bored and took a "no wood allowed" pic.

Back from another long business trip. New acquisitions:

Prototype-inspired retro build:

It shoots gooder than I thought

50 yards, M855

And a Mk12 Mod 1, needs glass:

I have a real treat to pick up at the store tomorrow, hopefully.

Local police and ATF seized my other two buys.

Won a pre89 Daewoo at a live auction (live internet feed) and it got flagged as stolen during my NICS check. Po-po came and took it.

Another one was an early 80s AR with an exceedingly rare lower (like, less than 100 ever made) and the damn thing showed up as an SBR because the flash hider wasn't pinned. Had to be surrendered.

How does it get flagged during a NICS check? The NICS line folks only ask what type of firearm, as in long gun, handgun or receiver. Manufacturer and serial number are not part of deal.

You can never have enough guns . Quite the collection man I like that little Styer Aug, I always wanted one. You have some cool sh__. I remember the first rifle I ever shot. Was my dads old bolt action 30-06 . WW1 vintage, I was maybe 8 years old lol. I didnt see that gun for 50 years until my dad passed away. Its a old springfield. Looks all original , I dont know. I remember taking it out of the case and holding it. As Im looking at it Im thinking to myself, you know, for a gun thats over 100 years old its pretty nice

It was till 1997 I had it for ten years and it was still NIB with IMI M16 magazine adapter, scope mount and spare FP/extractor set as you see it in the Polaroid.

In TN, they run the serial.

As for a resolution to the SBR, I was allowed to take the lower and BCG. Again, I'm not the one that assembled it and broke the law, so no harm to me.

I also picked up a Leader Dynamics T2 MkV
