I'm actually kinda surprised that Ace came up with another design. I mean if me as a little guy could find a molder to do a small batch, why couldn't they spend their time and resources to do the same?

Instead they spent time designing something that no one wants. I'm sure the time to create the adapter and then modify each ar15 grip by hand isn't the most effective use of their time.

They should have paid a molder to create the mold which they should have kept and then outsourced the actual creation to different shops that do polymer work. That way they spend the money up front on the mold and own the ability to make them ad hoc instead of being dependent on someone else to own the mold, break it and then be unable to create another.

Or the other scenario is that the Daewoo is such a small part of their business that why bother.

Who knows? I'll keep you guys posted. The molder said he would clean up some of the lines and edges and use a richer black instead of the ashy grey. I'm hoping these will actually be superior.

UPDATE:

About a dozen done. Will post pics tomorrow as soon as I get them. Once I get them in my hands, I'll start taking money and these puppies will start shipping.

I accept USPS or Wal-Mart MoneyGram money orders. I also accept a discreet anti-gun online payment method with fees.

If you ordered multiple, I can fit quite a few in the small flat rate boxes, that'll probably be how I ship these as the boxes are free to me, it's $5, and free delivery confirmation. If I have to go buy bubble mailers and pay for delivery confirmation for first class, you'd probably only save a buck and it'll take a few extra days getting there.

i just got the pics. first batch are on their way to me. i'll get them this week hopefully.

so for my peace of mind, i want to just ship 5 out first to some testers who can install them immediately and give me feedback if anything needs to be tweaked. the molder said the only thing that *might* be a problem is the handle of the hole for the grip screw. you might need to open it up with a 1/4" drill bit. not sure yet, the testers should let me know if any modifications need to be done.

you will need your own nut and bolt. the one i use is 2 3/4" with an allen head. maybe someone here can post the specs.

anyways, email me if you want to be in the first 5 test group. once i hear back i'll start taking payment from the rest of you and start shipping.

if anyone else wants in, chime in asap. not sure if there's enough interest to do another run later.

i think the problem is that the silicone molds actually break down after a certain number of runs. but having an original, one can always make another mold. the problem is getting enough interest to do a run.

It doesn't say anything on them. Since they are a custom part, I didn't think to mark them. I don't think it's be an issue since no foreign pistol grips for the dr-200 or dr-300 ever existed.

if someone's in a rush to get one, $183 sounds like a good price for express handling and delivery. if you gotta be the first kid on the block to have one.

just glad i could help. saw all the complaint threads and thought i might actually be able to do something about it.

the grips are en route to me and once i get them, they'll go out to the beta testers the next day. so my mid week, the testers should have had a chance to play with them and give me any feedback. once i get the green light, everyone on the list will start sending in payment and i'll start shipping these out. i'm really stoked that these are a true black which should match the factory handguards a lot better than the grey/black of the ace grips.

I have a couple of the older ACE grips, I'll take the one i claimed right now to test it out and post a comparison.

I will say that the color looks great, nice and black, and i would rather have the hole a bit small and need to be opened up than too big.

alright picked up some screws and bolts. picked up some lock washers just b/c i'm in ar15 guy and that's how we roll

i only picked up a few and they are going to the testers so they can get them installed asap.

testers, please review the hardware that came with it. if they end up working out i'll offer them as a 3 piece add one for $1 extra. i'll also tell you what to buy if you want to go get your own. i didn't want to pick up 50 sets unless i knew for sure they were going to work.

shipping tomorrow, testers keep an eye on your mailbox. hopefully by friday and saturday the testers will have them in their hands and can post a review.

Okay, found a USPS box in the mailbox today and...........

promptly tore this awesome grip out of the box!

I grabbed my tools and made a bee line for the safe.

Initial impressions:
Grip looks good, feels solid. I think the bolt may be a tad long.

I then ripped that funky ergo grip off there and slapped this one on. Grip drops right into place, no fitting required on my rifle. To install in I dropped the bolt down through the top of the receiver and used some needle nose pliers to slip the lock washer and nut into place.

Get it all snugged up and damn! This is nice

In my excitement I forgot to take some pics of the grip before installation. Here are the post install pics:

Overall impressions

Thanks s0b3 for getting this done, you have done the woo community a great service sir

Thanks for the pics Berd. Now we'll wait for the others to chime in, I know at least 2 more were delivered today. The other 3 should get theirs tomorrow or saturday at the latest.

Other testers, let me know if the bolt is too long. I based it off the bolt that came with the Ace grip. If you think it'll work 1/4" shorter I'll try to pick those up.

Once I get the green light from everyone, i'll post an update in the main post and you guys can email me and i can start taking payments and shipping on these.

Daewoo DR PG

My grips came today.
First impression, very well done and looks great.
So on to the fitting. Photography is not my specialty, so let me know if you would like to see more.

From Daewoo K1A1

This is the grip I installed, a US made Galil grip with lots dremel, file and hacksaw to make it work.

From Daewoo K1A1

This is the first of two to try, seems the hole in the grip is not aligned with the Daewoo DR's hole. Probably will need to be drilled out again.

From Daewoo K1A1

From Daewoo K1A1

This is the second one, fits great. Didn't have any problem aligning the screw into the receiver and placing the washer in the grip like the first one.
Slowly push the screw in from the lower receiver ( receiver is upside down and split apart from the top receiver for ease ) working it in the washer, just enough that it doesn't protrude all the way.
Place the nut inside the grip, place index finger inside to firmly hold the nut over the washer and screw.
Use a flat screwdriver and slowly turn while placing pressure on the nut with your index finger. As it starts to gain teeth into the nut, use a 7/16 socket on a 1/4 drive with extension to finish tightening.
Overall, I really like it. It has better flow and fit than the thumbhole stock or my galil grip anyday. As far as quality control, maybe test fit each grip for alignment hole.
Thanks s0b3
Joe

Got mine, will be a few days before I can mount it but the quality of the molding is better than the ACE grips, and the color is what I would describe as a "consistent, lustrous black, just like the original K1 and K2 grips."

Bravo sir, these are a fine product. I will report in when i get mine mounted, but I don't forsee any problems.
