Lightbulb U.S. RH 36 Knife

I just got this knife, marked RH 36 Made in USA.

Condition is Fair, with mottling and spots of pitting on blade.

Has no sheath, Blade is 6 1/4 inches long, Total length of knife is 11 inches.

What can you tell me about this item? Was it Government issue?

I assume it is from the WWII era.

Is it a utility knife, survival knife or something else?

Any ideas as to value? (I don't collect knives or WWII era gear).

Thank You.

WW2 fighting knife, still pretty common. I still pick them up on occasion at gunshows, expect to pay $35-$50 in good condition. Last 2 I bought I gave $70 for the pair, one excellent condition, one used.

I appreciate the "real world" pricing information.

Perhaps I can trade this for something?

Probably, or throw it on ebay for $50-$75. You will see people asking $100 or something nuts, but they never sell. Its too common of a knife currently, or hold onto it for 30 years maybe?

here is a super nice one for $50 with no bids

Yeah, the Ebay pricing is all over the map!

If I could find somebody with a Ralph Martindale 15 inch Bolo Machete,

or the equivalent 15 in Collins version, that would be neat.

Pre WWII hunting knife designed by Remington .PAL bought the Remington knife line in 1939
PAL marked ones were made after 1939.
The "PAL" RH36 knives came in bright blade, parkerized blade and painted blade.
. RH stood for Remington Hunter, and I think the 36 was for the 6" blade
