You want to have a fire? In July? In Oklahoma?

Because it's just not hot enough there already???

I thought we all were of the understanding that I'm a little, errr, "unhinged".

Did some RNG Practice with the DSA SA58 using the T.A.B. Biathlon Sling (carrying the FAL with the new BRS Stock folded) ans the S&W M&P9.

Ran a little over a mile in the heat to get the heart rate up pretty high. This mile route has quite a bit of elevation. Did Rifle work at 200yds, 100yds, 70yds (VTac) and Pistol work at 50yds, 25yds, 15yds.

DSA BRS Stock did great and the QD Swivels held up great for the entire run with the T.A.B. Biathlon Sling. The DSA SA58 FAL with the folding charging handle fits very comfortable on the back in this configuration and with the BRS Stock folded (muzzle down) it is totally out of the way.

The new TA33 ACOG (3X with .308 reticle) with the DSA ACOG Cut top-cover does great and the reduction in sight height made the slanted/canted slots in the VTAC much easier.

I ran 3 Moses polymer FAL Mags with Federal XM80 and 4 twenty round magazines of Winchester 9mm FMJ Whitebox for the M&P.

"kinda neat" may be the understatement of the century.

Well done - thanks for being such a good representative of the sport, Oklahoma, and Andrew - and for just being awesome enough to garner such attention!

So, training has been on schedule.

Had to change my diet around because my last blood work threw up some red flags.

So i got that straightened out.

Just checked my gear for the run.

27 pounds will be my run weight.

You're sweet, thank you. Really the only reason they care most likely is because I am a female, but I'll take it, lol. I'm used to my gender working against me (15 years in the auto industry, what could you possibly know about cars, sweetheart?), so I'm ready for it to start working for me. HA!

Mostly cheap carbs/sugars, saturated fats and caffeine.

You know, after running three years in the Oklahoma heat i think i've finally learned my lesson.

120 rds 5.56
75 rds. 9mm
2.0-2.5l of fluids.

I'm carrying EVERYTHING on a Haley Strategic chest rig.

After last year.

I am certainly not going to lose half because of faulty containers.

We'll see how comfy it is.

But it is light.

Looking good Mike. Is that the first time you're using the TAB sling? I love mine.

My big change this time around will be moving pistol from leg holster to belt. It's never bothered me on my leg but people act like I have three heads when they see me with it...so maybe they're onto something

Dropped the T-shirts off at the print shop yesterday.

Caught plenty of catfish for Saturday run, the BBQ guys are gonna be running a commercial deep fryer to provide lunch for runners. (there will likely be hot dogs as well, for those sick folks that don't eat catfish)

I've been running a lot, shooting little (as always).

Hensch and I are headed up to Pawnee this weekend to check out trails and move/set up obstacles. Not really sure what we'll incorporate this time, but I'll think of something. (or steal someone else's idea)

No, I ran one at the WTF biathlon with an AR.

Worked great. No sway.

As long as you’re kicking everybodies butt. Ok, the majority of the people.

Why worry how anyone sees you?

Maybe they’re just a bunch of lemmings trying to be tacticool.

And maybe they need to try it your way.

Easiest obstacle every.

Not able to use my grappling hook. No assistance allowed.

There was no way i could negotiate it with my gear.

Had to take the penalty.

You're supposed to leap 8 ft in the air?

Could you drop your gear, make the wall edge, and then drag the gear up?

I talked to one person that did it that way.

He had a piece of 550 para chord long enough to tie to all his gear and to himself.

What was the penalty, and did they just have an RO stand there and watch all day to assess them?

I believe it was a 30 minute penalty.

Yes, the had RO’s at both the wall and the monkey bars.

They were marking the score cards. Pass/fail.

I may be wrong, but I think the penalty was 15 min for the wall, 15 for the monkey bars.

I slammed my knee into the wall really hard, backed up and tried again, slamming my knee a second time. (there's probably a bloody spot there still...) I said "screw this" and went on. Only later did I find out there was such a harsh penalty, or I may have tried again.

After watching some guys get over it the next day, I think it's simply technique, getting your FEET up there, not knees and arm strength.

There's at least one video on Youtube of a guy doing it.

Up to this point, I haven’t defeated an 8 foot wall without assistance.

In either a RnG or Spartan race.

I suppose I need to build one and practice as part of workout routine.

Matt I'm sure you posted that picture in jest but that is what I was going to go for I even had a vision of like, laying my rifle against the side of the wall vertically, using it like a step to launch myself to the top, and then pulling it up with a rope.

Seriously though I do think I will bring rope, leave all of my stuff at the base, attempt to climb it unweighted, and then pull up my gear.

I intend to build a wall in my backyard but I just haven't had the time yet. I have a little bit of time before October. And hey, here's an evil idea...I can use it for my own RNG in August (probably with a rope to help people LOL).

Anyway back to the rapidly approaching OK RNG. I tried out out my set up yesterday. I got some new stuff for this go round, an actual plate carrier, a real hydro carrier, and a different retention holster for the XDM since the internet is not sure how I haven't shot myself with the SERPA yet.

Ummm, ok, so confession time here...running the pistol on the belt vs the leg holster was pretty much amazing, I've never known it any other way (because its not like you run far enough in 3 Gun for it to matter). But wow, yeah. I'll be staying with belt mount from now on. Just so much less flopping around and better weight distribution.

For juggernaut 5k I will be carrying 41lbs. That's four pistol mags (82 rds 9mm), 3 AR mags (90 rds 5.56), 3L of water/ice, firearms, and am using ceramic plates in the carrier. I have a helmet too but am not wearing it in the pics. For being so heavy the load is surprisingly comfortable.

I'll do the 10k as regular...so will lose 15lbs in plates. Will probably grab one more pistol mag because I know I'll be slinging lead when I'm tired AF.

I will most likely regret wearing shorts after the first barbed wire crawl but it's just too hot in pants.

I made some changes to my RNG AR from last time. I ditched the 16" pencil barrel...it made it amazingly light, but after 8-10 rds its accuracy really fades over 100 yds so it had to go. Swapped out with my old 3G 18" PSD barrel. It looks dumb because I still have the short handguards, but I'm poor and had to buy ammo, so I took off the Leupold VXR scope for my old gen 1 Vortex PST 1-4x. Again, loved the VXR because it was super super light, but that doesn't matter if it doesn't do the job...the stadia are just way too fat. Plus I like the little 1moa dot in the PST reticle better anyway.

That's all for now...goals between now and OK are just to not get hurt, and stay healthy!!

You just have to be smarter than the wall - especially for short folks like us. The load up looks great! 41lbs is what - 33% of your bodyweight???

I may have snuck onto the 5th Group obstacle course last night when no one was looking, and they did have a couple different variations on walls. I may or may not have taken pictures of all the obstacles for later use and recreation as my budget allows.

It took all I had in me to NOT try all the obstacles myself, but I knew that would bring the MPs running.

Yeah, 33% if I'm at the 125lbs I usually am! Knees were definitely complaining about that on Sunday.

Soooo...thinking about this some more.

Could you tie a rope to your pack, chuck it over the wall, tie the other end to your rifle, climb wall using the pack against the upper edge as a grapple, sit atop wall (ouch) and drag rifle up, then lower down, then hang from arms and drop?

Rope could even have knots I guess.

Ok, there seems to be question on my loyalty to the FAL.

So in response, the FAL will make a showing in the 5K.

Load out is around 40 lbs.

You're a badass, Mike. You have carried a FAL farther than most ever will. I absolve you of any minor/fleeting transgressions.

I thought that was the purpose of the FAL/fellowship patch?

I never see myself as a “ badass”

Mostly a dumb ass.

This. You've got nothing left to prove at this point. But if you carry the FAL anyway, God bless you! You still represent while most of the rest of us have strayed and faltered.

See, Mike?
You have nothing to prove, but folks know using those plastic pew-pew guns is straying from the straight and narrow.

I loaded M1A mags last night, for the 10K section.

Headed back up to Pawnee tomorrow to finish up range. Should be GTG next Friday morning.
