M1/M1A premium wood stocks?

Anyone here know of a source of premium M1/M1A stocks? Looking for something like high-grade walnut or fiddleback...presentation grade stuff. Thanks in advance.

That’s an awfully nice one. I’m looking for an upper HG also.

Maybe you could talk flypaper into crafting an M14 stock?

Wenig Gunstocks; also, DGR at least used to sell some really pretty wood. Looks like DGR only offers M1 Garand stocks.

There is a guy on the M14 forums named Doug Carlton that turns select USGI stocks into masterpieces. I think he still has a few left from his last batch.

Stocks

Ditto to Doug Carlton, he hand selects his stocks before he refinishes them.

Would not like to take any of those stocks out to the field. Had a BAR that I hunted with for years out in West Texas; had a real nice marbled walnut stock. Scratched it up in the rocks and cactus, but at the time it was the only deer rifle I had.

Treeline.com bought out Fred's inventory and markets their stocks by quality and will hand select for you. Great folks to deal with.

Doug Carlton is tops in refinishing but I believe he is getting out of the work.

This is an example of one of the premium stocks sold by Fred's. Picked it up about 5 years ago.

+1 on Treeline if you want to finish your own. Think I saw Doug post that he found a new source for stocks coming out of Shot Show 18'; (he still has 2 of the stocks he refinished from Fred's listed on the M14 forum).

Also on the M14 Forum is M1Army. From what I've seen and read, he uses a process similar to that of Doug Carlton. Here's an example of the figured birch stock he's holding for me.

If you're desiring a matching hand guard Wenig is about your only choice. They make a fine stock.

You could always call Boyds, I know they offer wood upgrades on their regular sticks.
