Ha Ha! Thanks, but I doubt I could have beat that. Jason smoked that course of fire. Really cool to watch the vids. Closing on a house now so too tied up to attend any shoots. Probably next year.

Really says a lot about his abilities as a shooter, very well rounded! It's one thing to be good at either or, but to nail both is killer. He's local to me, I need to shadow him so I can get better! And now I know I have someone who will shoot FALs with me at matches

Lol, fat chance on that happening! Besides, someone has to drink all that out of date PBR at Ruby Tuesday's.

I agree with Stimpy this looks unnatural.

While I understand one should practice using their strong hand to change mag in case of unforeseen situations. This method seem the most unfluid like way to operate the controls especially during a competition.

It IS a little unnatural! But when shooting prone or left-handed, it's actually a little bit quicker. All the rest of the time I change mags weak-handed (which you can see during the t-shirt shooting). As always, it's good to do both.

Yeah, I found most FALFilers will tell you the secrets to thier success with this exotic battle rifle. What a wonderful sense of community they have-I've learned so much from them over the years

Given a choice of beer from any of the real big American breweries, I'll take the Pabst any day. Stuffs not quite 1/2 bad. And they have the best looking label

It's been years, Man!

Thanks Matt.

That was bad everywhere I expected it to be.

I remembered a version of the shoot-house we may have to bring back..it almost forces more of the 'death-walk'/'duck-walk'.

What is that odd thing sitting on top of your FAL?

JK, I'll be sporting optics when I make it down again, my eyes are getting old. I may try to run the drop 8 with irons just for shits and giggles.

Keep digging, fellow dwarf...we know how that ends!

Seriously, the optic aggravated me to no end and I am going to my optometrist to try to find a solution to let me shoot irons again next year.

Thanks y'all. What's that saying about the blind squirrel? Lol.

I often shoot an AR, simply because it's cheap to shoot and I hate competing against myself. I'll be happy to crash the local shoots with a FAL or garand especially if there are other odd ball shooters.

We've joked about this for the Run N Gun. I personally love the idea and think horse riding is an important skill everyone should know. But I'm not willing to submit my horses to a bunch of yahoos who don't know how to ride.

And they think their only job is to eat and sleep anymore.

Lol, the donks seem pretty nonplussed. Didn't realize we had horse people here! I grew up with them. I've been riding for about 25 years but took a hiatus a little while back just to do some other hobbies, because as you know, they are expensive!!

In other news, this is why we can't have nice things..say good bye to that pretty Ironwood stock many of you commented on @ the RBGC match! I got double screwed today, and not in a good way, so I need to rant to people who understand.

I went to my local indoor range, the one I always go to, mainly to pick up a transfer (rem 700 action for new build), and bring G1 to shoot while I'm there, just to brush up for upcoming 3 gun on sunday. That'll be $75...HUH? Oh yeah, see here in the fine print, if you transfer in from Bud's Gun Shop, we charge more because they don't identify transfers properly and it's more of a hassle for us...wow, way to alienate and punish your customers, that makes no sense.

So, butthurt, I proceed to the range to blow off some steam. Have an FTE. No big deal, but since the range is packed I want to go tell the RO and have him come out while I clear it (hold chg handle and tap a few times on buttstock pointed down range) so nobody freaks out. I ask him where he wants me to do that, and he points to the wall behind us, uh, no thx, that seems a little unsafe. I point towards a 4x4 wood beam on an empty lane and ask if I can clear it there. He then takes the rifle from me, goes over to that lane and whacks the buttstock on the cement, barrel pointed towards the ceiling. So this is what it looks like now,

I was so mad I was shaking, I'm not really the type of person to throw a fit though, so I calmly packed up my shit and took it up front, I told him, 'this is what you did when you smacked it on the ground, and you didn't even point the f*** thing in a safe direction, with 15 other people there, this is NOT cool'...he looked at it and hemmed and hawwed like, "oh yeah I guess it did do that...sorry..."....this was not some kid either, it's an older fellow, pretty sure a LEO at one time...what in the absolute $@*!? I just ended up leaving, no one was even trying to make it right...been going here for three years, shoot there 2-3x a month, bought guns there, transferred in probably 10 more, etc

I'm mad about the rifle of course but moreso the blatant lack of discipline about firearm safety, literally what is THE first rule of firearm safety?

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I intend to email the owner tomorrow after I've cooled off some...

A smirk is a start. Count yourself lucky that Nutzz didn't make you cringe and duck for cover and laugh out loud at the same time. That's his specialty - they taught him that in the Marines.

Yep. Forget the chicks - I have never really regretted the stupid things in life I have done. At the very least, they make for a great story and/or take me to a place I never would have gone had I been "smart".

But I have very much regretted several things I missed a chance to do.

Personally...I would be beyond pissed off.

"YOUR employee took MY rifle from me without asking and proceeded to break several safety rules AND MY RIFLE."

Ironwood is unobtainium IIRC.

I would demand a suitable replacement stock be found or compensation commensurate with replacing the unreplaceable.

This is not a situation where they need to be punished...unless they fail to make it right.

You guys just reminded me of why I had spent so much time and energy getting my own place to shoot and out of the public-space.

I'll shut-up, now . . .

You're so right...I have a membership at a lovely outdoor range 40 mins from here, but was going to the indoor for the transfer/and because it was getting dark. It's funny bc I never realized how bad the indoor/public ranges are until I joined a private one. Everyone makes me nervous.

I could have taken my liberties with flare at the below statement ,... but alas, you good folks are settling me down a little (maybe not )...

Ironwood is unobtainium IIRC.

I would demand a suitable replacement stock be found or compensation commensurate with replacing the unreplaceable.

This is not a situation where they need to be punished...unless they fail to make it right.
This! I would be beyond pissed. I'm a member of an out door range where everyone self RO's. It's great...... Unless other people are there. The last 3 times I've been there I've seen people handling rifles with people down range. The last visit, I was the one down range. After telling "hey!" twice, I then flew into expletives which got their attention. Friggin people. I'm thinking of buying some land for my own range.

Yay!! I actually got a very positive email back today from the range. I am glad that I left when I was upset so I had a chance to calm down before I contacted the owner. When I emailed this morning, he said he would review the camera footage and get back to me. I was actually glad this was all on camera...I imagine a lot of people embellish when it comes to stuff like that but I had given a very specific rundown of what happened.

I followed up this evening and got a very sincere apology/offer to make it right. They did admit the RO had not followed procedure (with safety and regards to clearing it) and that he had been dealt with.

He asked me to bring the G1 back in so we can take a look together and discuss it. Honestly just knowing that they care has already made this much better for me. I'm honestly not that mad about the stock it was just moreso the way it was handled. I won't have time to go down there for a couple days so I have a bit of thinking to do as to what 'make it right' means to me. But already I feel a lot better and I like where this is going.

YOU should get to pick the repair shop...not them.

Also, even time is money. I open all such conversations with "It was difficult for me to get here today." It is important that it is clear from the beginning that you are the one continuing to be inconvenienced by their actions.

Although I admit in most cases I end up just fixing the damage others have done to my stuff myself because I don't trust anyone else to get it right. The number of people I would trust with my firearms is so small I could afford to buy them all top-shelf bourbon on a regular basis and not go broke. The dance about what the shop will do to make it right is merely a test for me to decide how bad or if they need to be publicly flogged.

Good luck. Be friendly...but let their actions show friendship.
