MAX2/K2 Accessories

Yesterday while out of town visiting parents I stopped into a local pawnshop and found a Daewoo Max2 preban calling to me. Sorry still out of town so I can't take and post pics yet. It's in excellent shap. 323000 serial range. PreBan configuration with the folding stock, bayo lug, and flash hider. Stoeger import.

Anyways it does not have the grip insert, where can I find one of those? Also did the South Koreans commonly use a USGI type web sling and M7/M9 bayo or are there specific slings and bayos and if so - where do I find those?

Thanks,
Earl

What exactly is a grip insert? Is it for putting something inside of the pistol grip?

The K2/Max2 has an insert for holding a cleaning kit inside the grip. It can also be used for storage of spare parts, etc.

Okay. I didn't even recall if mine had these or not. Now i'll have to check.
I assume these particular ones are unique to the Daewoo?

Yes. Too bad they won't fit in an AR15/M16 pistol grip but they won't from what I understand. I tried the only place I could think of that might have one - Daewoo Rifle Parts in Arizona but no luck.

The grip cleaning kit for the Daewoo looks similar to the FAL grip cleaning kit, but is shorter in length.

The other accessories for the Daewoo are a belt pouch cleaning kit that is a near identical copy of the US M16A1 cleaning kit the major difference being that the threaded end of the patch holder is turned down to a point so it can be used as a maintenance tool and the pouch just has a loop for the belt, not an ALICE clip.

The Korean sling is a close copy of the US M1 Garand green web sling, the Korean bayonet is a copy of the US M-7 M16 bayonet, a US made bayonet will work on the Daewoo.
