Grenadier Precision Para dust cover scope mount adapters

Hello all,

I recently picked up a used Grenadier Precision full length dust cover for my FAL. I want to use it for my para but it didn't have the para rod, and I couldn't fine a used one, so we have made an adapter for it.

This small adapter allows you to use the DSA para guide rod ($30 from DSA) on your GP dust cover.

ALL the GP dust covers have the cut out to insert the rod. They don't make these anymore, awesome dust covers, but no parts support.

So we made an insert to go in that recess that mates up properly and allows the DSA guide rod to be inserted.

These are stainless steel and are $30 each plus $7 shipping.

If you have a GP and want to make it a para, here's the way to do it.

Thanks,

For anybody considering a GP, they are excellent mounts IMHO. This adapter is a useful option as most GPs I've seen for sale have not had the guide rod.

I LOVE mine... Traded it for one of the LTR mounts, mainly because the rails on the LTR mounts aren't high enough and don't co-witness with the front rails on any of the railed handguards.

I got the prototypes in today. I'll test it tomorrow with the DSA rod and see how it goes.

Thanks,

Goofy 3D printer who prints in metal lost the shipment for the 2nd adapter prototype. They are remaking it now...

Project is pretty much done, I just didn't make any because there's so few of these out there that no one really seemed interested.

I can 3D print you a one-off, thread and tap it, but I don't have anything going to nitriding anytime soon, so you'd have to cerakote it or something. Let me know if you'd like one and I'll price it.

Actually, since I have 3-4 of these Grenadier Precision mounts, I could use 4, depending on price.

What I'm running into is the cost production from Shapeways for one-off 3D printed models.

The cost on 4 of them in stainless steel is $15 each, but then I have to thread them and the way it's sintered makes them a PITA to thread - this material is REALLY tough. Same stuff we make our mag releases in and I can barely sand them smooth before cerakoting - their printed SS is no joke.

The cost on 4 of them in aluminum is $25 each, but they're MUCH easier to thread for the mounting screw. Takes only 10 minutes or so each with the M3 tap instead of nearly half an hour each on the SS.

Neither of those prices includes coating them. They're an internal piece so it's not like they're going to see a ton of wear once installed.

Or you can tap them if you want and you can have them for cost. I don't need to make a bunch of money, since it's obviously not going to be an ongoing project unless/until we also eventually make top covers, which I don't see happening anytime soon.

Just let me know.

Thanks,

If I was going to make at least 30 of them I could easily get that price down to $20 each including anodizing, threading, etc plus shipping, but my machinist has a minimum order size, especially for something this small.

Well I guess that's the last one. Went pretty fast, lol

If more of you want one, let me know. I can make them in about 2-3 weeks. Does not include para rod - it's made to accept the DSA Nickel Boron para rod they use in their dust covers. GP just makes a superior dust cover - wish they were still made.

Lockjaw shoot me a PM for pmt info.

Thanks,

I was under the impression that the five parts you offered were already manufactured when you posted, "5 of these are enroute to me. $25 each plus shipping." That is why I stated that I will take one.

You then tell me, "It'll take a couple weeks, so remind me if I haven't touched base with you by the end of the month."

I am sure you are a reputable person as your feedback suggests, but I'm not paying for an item that hasn't been manufactured yet, especially since you are depending on another party to manufacture it for you.

When you have the item manufactured and in hand, I will be an eager buyer.

Thank you.

I deleted my post as I got the same email from Lear70 stating inbound in 2 weeks and then will be threaded. No problem for me with that.

Does anyone have one of these mounts for sale? 🙂 They appear quite compact.

I'm not interested in giving a loan so the same party can profit from me, while I shoulder the risk. That is ass backwards.

I will gladly pay for a finished product.
