Hakko scope

Hi guys I got some questions about a scope I was just recently given by a family member. It is a 4-16x56 scope with mil dots and a lit retical. Is this scope worth messing with. It seems on the net that it has mixed reviews. I really have low expectations about it from what I've read but will through it in a mount maybe this week and see if it's any good.

Like most any brand today, they run to all different prices and qualities.
If it says JOL or Japan on it, it's probably decent glass...Anywhere else, not so much.
JOL made the scopes for Tasco that won the Navy contract for M14 glass back in the early 90's and Id guess is probably who makes the Super Sniper line of scopes for SWFA.

Hakko is a Japanese company and their scopes were generally of good quality, they may be out of business now or may have changed their company name.

Hakko made scopes for a number of US retailers/importers including the Colt carry handle mounted 3X and 4X models, Armalite AR180 scopes and other brands' carry handle and stanag mounted 3X and 4X models as well as the varied belled scopes.

I believe they also made the Beeman 3X and 4X scopes and other air rifle scopes which were considered excellent quality.

Do an online search for their history.

I've read Hakko was bought out by Japan Optical Limited. Hakko is usually referenced in a positive light.

That's cool maybe it's a better scope than I thought. When I was doing searches on it there was a lot of bad talking and a little bit of praise. I'll put it on a carbine and see how it does before I spend the money for a good mount to put it on my 6.5 build. Off of the rifle the glass looks really good and a nice cross hair. This one does say Japan on it.

Hakko Scope - Japan Glass . . .

Heavy. Built like tanks.

Glass is good ~ great where it counts - edges a bit distorted.

Over-all, good stuff.

Let us know more about your scope.

Best!
