PE-57 builds

There`s been interest and activity on trying to get a PE-57 build effort further along. 80% Receivers for sale so I`d like to know if anyone is having any luck on this build effort. Any info you can share here or by PM would be welcome to help me decide whether to pursue this type of kit build...Thanks, J R...

Look through the marketplace.. There is someone that is producing a receiver and has info on builds.

My close friend is making complete receivers. He is now awaiting the Feds' approval which, hopefully, is very soon. They look quite nice and cost a fortune to make, complete with forming dies that he had made. He has been a long time member and will more than likely post here in the Market Place when they are ready. He also has kits to make into complete rifles and the kits are NOT for sale. Here is the one he had made up for approval.

WOW. that looks fantastic. Ive had a Stg 57 parts kit for over 15 years now, waiting for SOMEONE to make a receiver.

if this is true, and there is a batch of them being made... please, PLEASE, please dear god, keep me notified.

I am a guaranteed purchaser.

Colorado Gun Sales has PE-57 kits listed on their website, albeit without barrels (recent imports) http://www.cogunsales.com/index.php/...-Kit-Used.html

IIRC, DSA used to have PE-57 parts kits as well, but their website only shows a few parts for SIG AMT. However, this includes new 7.62x51 barrels, which I suspect (but don't know) might be readily adapted to the PE-57.

BTW, I think it is always fascinating to see a firearm with serial number "X001". Have to say that this one is a WHOLE lot better looking than most experimental / prototypes I have seen.

I'm really kicking myself for not getting a kit before I did and I'm hoping I can get my hands on an original barrel at some point. I'm pretty sure DSA also sold barrels separately so there has to be some floating around.

My friend bought all the DSA stuff when he decided to do this project. Yes, I assure you that they are real and I have held this one. The paperwork has been approved and moving slowly. When he starts taking orders, I will definitely tell him to post here. Or, I will do it for him. He is a member here, he just asked me not to reveal his information yet. He is working two jobs right now, has the new shop/store front built, but needs to finish it, very busy. They will materialize, though.

Ah, I see. Could you shed some light on the exact nature and extent of this person's endeavors? For example, will he offer various parts, services and such or will he only be assembling complete rifles/receivers for purchase?

Well, all I can say right now is that he is setting on some kits, parts and soon to be-new made semi-auto receivers. He told me that he will not sell the kits, but that he wants to sell whole rifles at the beginning.

He also specializes in AR18/AR180 and he's the source for the aftermarket Beretta AR70 receivers(I recognise the info engraving).

I've pretty much known him all my life and I have not seen him with any AR18, AR180 or AR70 parts, kits or receivers. Must be a different person.

What mags would the 7.62 version use? Co. Gun Sales has PE57 mags, but in 7.5x55 caliber...

I must be mistaken then. Thought it would be Pete Fleis.

Correct mags would be the unobtanium AMT mags which usually list for $100-200 apiece on gunbroker.

Are there any news regarding this?

I understand a few receivers have been sold already?

What about barrels or 922r compliance parts?

STGW 57

I have the STGW 57 kit too. But I am still looking for a gunsmith who makes receivers and assembles Swiss stgw. Did you find any?

I think step 1 is finding a source for the receiver sessions; I have heard of artty62 but was never able to contact him.

Step 2 is barrel.

Then you worry about putting it all together

In the side barn ?

If so, I bought an ar70 top end from him and talked briefly about the 57's.

He said they had not only been building firing 308 57's for awhile, but that importing another boat load of kits and mags (later ones, originally built in 308) was in the 'works'....As in the deals been done and their waiting on permits.

Sorry,,, I dont have contact info for them off hand either....

Swiss .308 barrel is the Only way to go.

Because they are damn accurate and "Make" the kit if you have one. The boatload of kits/parts would make it worthwhile to set up and build some PE57's.

Maybe the rifle is a pain in the azz to build, so much better the challenge of building sweet ones.

I would give some body parts for an Original factory rifle, my holy grail.

STG57

Sold my only PE-57 about 3 years ago to fund a divorce. It brought 8500 and I still regret it. Talk about buttery smooth action. I wish I could have kept it and sold the ex, however the PE was likely worth more

I managed to snag a repair section, but it's made of a steel that's less than suitable. Anyone know if someone is making more these days?

I had a receiver in my hands just the other day. The guy is a member here, but don't post a lot. The entire die set is made and has been used to produce whole US receivers. He's working on having the barrels made and some US compliance parts. He has kits that will be built into rifles. Yes, I've seen them and they have been approved by .gov

The guy works a full time job, so..................But, he has purchased other tooling for the shop to complete these builds. He's also working on scope mounts, too.

Just to reiterate, these are not pieces of original receivers, but honest-to-goodness, made from scratch on very expensive tooling US receivers. No junk here.

I wonder if I know the guy.
Would like to see this come to fruition, fingers crossed for progress to the positive.

Great news! There are more than a few of us out here with parts kits and barrels and no receiver. Will the mystery manufacturer be selling just the receiver?

Maybe, after he runs out of kits. Very possible. I held two of the receivers lately and they look very nice.
