B1961 Brit L1A1 w/ original wood - finally complete

Just wanted to share this with the forum. Complete, all-B61 L1A1, with the exception of the rear sight, break lever, and the popstick. Rear sight is a Hythe with the 'D' and the 'arrow' on the base and lower aperture mount. Bolt and carrier have matching EP'd s/n# and both are B61 proofed, but they do not match the lower. If I can locate an early rear sight without the bevel on the aperture, and with only the arrow proof markings all around, I'll likely move the Hythe to the 'D66' build. The popstick is actually Aussie, but it matches so well I put it there as a placeholder, until I can get the original B61 trigger guard + wood restored. The non-dated parts are all 'B' or 'arrow' marked, but I cannot seem to locate a Brit break lever that does not have the Enfield 'D' on it. Also has an 'ATC' marked gas piston, as I cannot seem to locate one with just an arrow. Anywho, just thought I'd post a couple photos here. Feel free to comment, troll, etc. Have a good weekend...

Heh heh Most of them I already had, believe it or not. The arsenal-matching bolt & carrier were a lucky buy, but the rest came mostly from a rifle built on an ABNI (entire rifle cost $900 five months ago, w/ seven various mags). Expect to see that ABNI receiver on a C2A1 clone... as soon as I get it back from refinish...
ETA: wood carry handle metal being refinished, too

Donít let the fact that you canít find a B take down lever get to you.. They didnít leave the factory all matching. BSA, Enfield and Fazakerly all made parts and when one factory was short on something they sourced it from one of the other factories. They all came out of the doors with a mix of parts. If you are getting that precise I would only be concerned with matching numbers before anything else.

Nice L1A1! Update us with a range report.

There were a few give aways besides the color, the top link and tail light.
If you donít mind me asking, what model? Not to take away from the fine rifle.
I have a B2650 open station, really like it.

Nice rifle, looks like mine. haha.....

Also, I didn't think that the non-beveled rear sight was used that far forward, more like late '50's.

@ Front sight screw -- Good eye there, also! I'm waiting until I get it bore-sighted to install the screw. Just been working too much lately, no time for anything

@ Tractor model -- I'll have to look. It's my dad's, he's doing some work near my place and keeps it under my carport....

@ Rear sight (bevel vs non) -- Good info to know. At this point, I'm thinking more about 'having one of each type' and I figured an early 60s would be most likely to 'accidentally have gotten one' during a build at the arsenal. I've got th pictured Hythe set with the special front post, and one of those specialty sight sets with the tritium inserts (non-Hythe), so I just want to also have an early rear sight.

Oh brother. Showed these pics to my son and he wants to do the same to his UB62. Guess I need to start looking for the proper wood now. But he wants a SUIT first of course.... oi vey.
