Interesting L2A1 on GunBroker

https://www.gunbroker.com/item/79856428
A good L2A1 on a Onyx upper. Some odd things too. An Izzie dust cover with a door covering the ejection port. It also has an Izzie HB carry handle and Argentine disc type rear sight. It's a good price if just for the hard to find parts. The lower SN is L2A1 too.

Nice rifle .
Finding the correct carry handle would be a job.
Wish I had the extra cash.

Needs correct carry handle, dust cover/rear sight, etc. Due to the barrel and receiver though, it's probably still worth close to start price.

Holy fugg, that looks like an aggregate of some of the most difficult-to-find FAL / Commonwealth parts out there. That looks like a 1-12 Canadian gas reg, also.

So what's this things real story?
They make it sound like it was imported that way but only parts kits came in if I am not mistaken?

The GB L2A1 Sr number is very close to

The Lithgow receiver mine my was built as a MG and register before May 86 by Desert Ordnance. Same diopter site, which is wrong on both guns. Wonder who built this one up? I have to check the gas regulator when I get to AZ.

L2A1 kit came from ARMEX

This rifle was built here and not imported as built and shown. Evens did not bring in rifles only receivers, They obtained a number of Brand New L2A1 kits from ARMEX back in the day and built up a number of rifles like this.

That's a neat looking top cover.... do pics of it when you get it. Overall a good looking piece , not sure I'd have dumped that kind of scratch on it. But hey it is what it is.

I am interested in the importer markings--- I have seen similar receivers!!!
The left upper receiver was marked "ONYX ? MT", while the right upper receiver was marked "ONYX INT BILLINGS MT"--- maybe w50cal can elaborate, upon receipt.

From the pictures the import marks are very faint. When I get it in hand, will try to see what they are. Mr Skidmore said he could not tell. John

w50cal, posting photos is fairly simple. Heck, I learned to do it, so.....

Anyway, go to the free photo hosting site called Imgur. Open an account and upload your photos there. Form a library that you can pull from. This will take the longest time, but not bad, really.

Then, type up your thread here and, when ready for the photo in the thread, go to the Imgur website (I have it open at the same time as my Files thread). Then, click on the photo you want to put in the thread and "Allow access" to your computer's photo folder. Go to the right, bottom and click on "Copy" and click on the desired sizing of photo that you want. This will take some practice because sometimes you click on one and you get another size. If this happens, I click on it again and then repaste it into your thread. Sounds complicated, but really is not. Good luck.
