Century R1A1

When did Century stop making R1A1 on imbel receivers in Canada? What kind of parts kits did they use? Are these a good buy for $600.00? Was the quality of the Century built in Canada better then the ones built in USA?

They were not built in Canada.
$600 is generally a decent price.

R1A1 Canadian

I saw a CIA R1A1 at a gun show built on a embel receiver that had the word Canada behind the word embel on receiver. Someone had tried to grind off the word Canada and cover it up but you could still see the faint word Canada.

I own two different CAI and CIA rifles.
A R1A1 and a L1A1.

If you are taking them back to the original configuration they can be great shooters. Even more so at $600 or less.

Ive never heard of Canada made though.

$600 is a good price these days.

I think it's a really good price. I bought one off gunbroker several months ago for about that and it had a 71 dated lower and a very nice uncut Lithgow barrel under their funky brake. Now it's back in original furniture and I love it. it's kind of like buying a parts kit and getting the receiver for free. Although most on here think that is all a non Imbel Century receiver is worth

Century used to be headquartered in Canada, so some of the older firearms say Century Canada.

I have inspected a few of the Canadian stamped receivers over the years and they are decent. They seem to hold a higher regard in the FAL club than Hess receivers by far for CAI built L1A1/ R1A1 guns. Check the feed ramps and internals real good. Thats a good price for a Century Arms, and can be very decent shooting rifles if not put together by an angry monkey.

If it runs, $600 seems like a great price. I have a R1A1 that runs fine and the finish on it was well done. Mine still has the funky Century brake on it but I have a NOS brake to put on once I get the guts to take a grinder to the old one.
