Just an interesting poll RE: current view of gun control

Not sure how accurate this is, but it is probably not too far off. Shows that support for gun control has inched up in recent years due to some high profile massacres. The article below shows how much public support for stricter gun control vs. outright hand ban, etc.

methodology is key. how you ask a question is paramount, and how you draw conclusions from a collection of answers is everything, and is rarely discussed in conclusion driven polling. most polls are heavily biased and actual opinion does not often support the conclusions claimed.

Nonetheless you disgust me, and I take comfort in the knowledge that your obituary will be nowhere near as humorous as mine.

The next time I hear "THE RANGE IS NOW HOT", it just wont be the same.

Max tried another question. "What sort of people live about here?"
"In THAT direction," the Jin said, waving its right paw round, "lives a Han: And in THAT direction," waving the other paw, "lives a Ming Hare. Visit either you like: they're both mad."
"But I don't want to go among mad people," Max remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Jin: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Max.
"You must be," said the Jin, "or you wouldn't have come here."

I agree. What is interesting is the change over the years in this same poll. They supposedly are asking the same questions. So I would assume the same corruption in data today that was present 5, 10 or 20 years ago. Therefore I cannot know what the true percentage that support more gun control; but that number appears to have moved up in recent years.

I can tell them where to stick their poll.

There was a poll with results that showed 90% of Americans supported slavery.

Polls are no way to govern a nation that believes in Life, Liberty and Freedom.

The poll is probably spot on. Most people have a vague notion about the Constitution and no real understanding of law and they have no interest in history. Idiocarcy was an unintentional documentary
People can only give emotional answers and, yes, most people would vote for stricter gun laws.

Poll - simple twaddle!

Blaming a firearm for an individual’s action, is like blaming a fork for the Obesity epidemic!

Support for gun control is support for slavery.

What Democrats need to do is create a false flag mass shooter event by one of their psychotic drones about two weeks before an election to get the most out of it at the ballot box.

Some things...

this is created stats buddy.
Gallup subcontracts 1st of all. Think on that a bit...

So everyone ask themselves
Have you or anyone you know been contacted by "Gallup"

Here's how this shit works, I was in the industry...

1stly it depends on where the sample is sourced
If you only sample urban areas with land lines it's going to be false nationally

2nd...calling times
You place calls to homes 9 to 5 you end up with mostly motherly stay at home wives
Not Men...think on that one too

Third
Inflection in asking things changes results

One outfit I was a manager at did these contracts regularly
Strictly day time calls to eliminate working males
A good 85%+ of calls loaded in the dialer were Urban area land lines
result is the vast majority of polling ends up Urban mommies ergo meaningless results.

inflection is HUGE
polling should be done monotone but isn't
hammer the gradiant on certain words you graphically can change results
we did this all the time folks...telemarketing 101

This works particularly well with females who tend to just feel, not avidly process things in their lovely little heads, thus you deliver a totally false construct as FACT

The figures don't lie, however liars can figure. If I ever run out of toilet paper, I will print out a poll.

I remember an old Neal Knox report in SGN, must have been in about 1990 or, shortly after the Stockton school shooting. He was reporting on a poll that showed large support for a semi auto ban. Turns out the question asked was "Do you want to stop the killing of our children in schools?" or something quite similar. If you chose "yes" then you supported a ban.

Polls are easily slanted by the pollsters.

I took statistics in college.

I learned that one can skew stats toward a certain outcome.

Lousy class.

That brings to mind a quote from Mark Twain:

Just throwing this to the top so SWOHFAL gets some credit for calling Pittsburgh.

Shooting pal who did a lot of research for the CDC back in the day used to say, when asked to describe what he did, 'we beat the data until it confesses'.

Yep, figures don't lie but liars can sure figure at times.
