I have a 92FS But I have learned to work with it and like it. Damn thing can really shoot. I'm mostly happy with it.

G19.
Not sexy, but it fits all other criteria.

BHP. Yes, some sentimentality is involved. But I also shoot it better than any other semi-auto "9" I own. But if for whatever reason I could not have the HI Power, I would not cry about being stuck with a G19.

Hoping it will be this one I purchased recently. I have not shot it yet. It's a CZ75/BHP knockoff. ~ss

SB, how's the trigger on your 9mm Shield? I have one in .45 and the trigger is certainly its weakest link.

CZ PCR or Beretta 92 compact if full size is not to your liking. Single/double pull hammer fired actions in metal frames. Accurate, smooth shooters they are. Wilson Combat will build up a custom version of the 92 if your heart desires$$$ PCR can be a bit hard to locate. They only import in lots.

"Your Hollywood crush means nothing in this discussion." Sure it does, to me. And most of that was humor...I can differentiate between reality & film...what it means to you I couldn't care less.

I'll agree w U on the G 19...I am a big Glock fan...no argument there.

The trigger on my shield is OK, IMO, yep, some don't like it. It just fits my hand great w/8 rnd mag and conceals nicely, no issues, my carry.....

Thanks for that info. I considered one of the Apex triggers for the .45 Shield. Then I came across a thread somewhere that mentioned a gunsmith, Dan Burwell in PA, who did great trigger jobs on the Shield. I sent him an email back in August and never heard back. Busy man I guess.

I should have used a poll, or at least counted, but I think the results are in:
Glock 19 wins

With a not so surprising out of nowhere appearance of the
BHP - seeing the FN connection is alive and kicking on the files

A huge showing for 92FS that I wasn’t expecting too

Thanks for the input

It's no secret I'm not a Glock fan, seen too many broken. But I will admit the G19 was my all time favorite grock model out of them all. I wouldn't be opposed to tossing one in the glovebox to fill an emergency role.

Troy, what's the most common "breakage" you've seen on the 19s? Maybe something I can look out for.

Tex,
Not just the 19, all of them. No. 1 failure, extractors. Replaced more of those than any other part of the gun.
No. 2 would have been trigger return springs. Not the New York trigger types but the small coil springs. The hook that goes over the trigger bar breaks where it rubs.
This was up into gen 3. Glock was replacing/updating all the internals for free if a customer brought his pistol to their attention for service or repair starting with gen 3. The new parts are easily identified by the chrome looking finish vs the darker finish of the originals.
I have zero experience with gens 4 and 5 so all those previous issues may have long since been corrected.

This list goes on but these were the most common failures I saw by far. This is for factory parts, everything goes out the window for a pistol with aftermarket shit installed.

Thanks Troy! My Gen 3 19 has a pretty low round count and no troubles so far, but I'll keep those issues in mind. I just picked up a Gen 4 21 from AIM, an LEO trade in with night sights. So that make two Glocks in the stable. The more I know about them, the better.

When I only had one handgun (of any caliber) it was a Springfield XDM 9mm Compact.

I liked it so much I bought a XDM 9mm Competition, but this one has the stainless slide. Way cool, fun to shoot, and accurate.

My FEG Hi Power clone is quickly becoming my favorite handgun.

I do need to replace a few parts, but once I do that and run more rounds through it (only a few hundred so far, but it's been flawless) I will likely say that it's my favorite handgun.

I agree. Everyone should have an Inglis in their collection, including the shoulder stock.

A Short List:

Glock 19, 26, 17
Beretta PX4
Stoeger Cougar 8000
PT111 G2
SAR BP6
Hi Power

My primary 9mm is the G19:

My brother would say that a Sig is all you need and a cousin would say a Hi Point C9 works for him. Go figure.

Love my Baby Desert Eagle, but...

from a practicality standpoint I have to cheat a little on the question, and go with my Sig P320. Swap the frames out and the top ends out and you can have from a full-size down to a subcompact to cover every possible need for a 9mm.

CZ SP-01 Tactical. 20 rounds of 9mm with decocker, threaded barrel and raised tritium sights. Most accurate 9mm out of the box I own. Actually feels BETTER in the hand than my BHP.
