ALL FAL -
will you bring a G11 knife to the shoot in a couple days? I'd love to see one of those! And will they pass the average density scanner? Enquiring minds want to know...

Ceramic is brittle, so cutting only. Stabbing is more lethal than a slash, so some kind of glass-reinforced plastic, like what Cold Steel once (and may still) sell would work to that end.

Just avoid places they won't let you carry a knife. If you get caught with the "boogy man" of knives in a security controlled environment, you will be screwed. Get a nice sturdy pen if you are looking for a last ditch poking implement. Better yet, carry a cane or "tactical" umbrella.

Yup - not looking to test the waters myself on TSA density scanners. Though a few years ago I decided to try a delrin dirk - went right through.
Not a real knife, though.

There was a guy years back who made and sold a linerlock out of carbon fiber. The blade had a sliver of steel in it though. Haven't seen them in years.

Years ago there were lots of 'training knives' made from glass reinforced nylon on the market, from a few different makers.
Both folders and fixed blade, some were in safety orange, but most were just black. They took all kinds of abuse and still performed pretty well for what they were,,, A little better than a sharp stick or ball point pen. Havent seen many in the last 20 years or so. They were all pretty cheap and I guess they couldent really make any $$$ with selling them. |

Yep...CIA letter openers, Isreali stealth pokers and a few others. Saw a few at the 'show today. Sure as hell not the original sticker price of $3.00 either!
I fall into the "pen" camp; tho most jurisdictions will allow open carry of sheath knives; but I don't wanna start that open stuff. Concealed should be concealed!

Dang, I just read this Brunop, or I would have brought one out for you to take home, they can be effective in G11 down to 1/8" thick, can be worn inside the boot or shoe/under the foot or Gel pad....
![]() I would suggest that folks do NOT try any smuggling of any kind on any public transportation under scrutiny.

Sounds like a cool thing. I would be interested in seeing what you had to offer.
