How good is that ammo compared to, say, black hills?

It seems that Palmetto State Armory is in a real big hurry to charge my cc, but not to actually ship my ammo. I'll be sticking with Aim Surplus and SG Ammo from now on. There is no excuse for this delay. They must be selling ammo that they do not have in stock.

^ HBR when did you order yours? I noticed that too. Normally they've shipped within a day or two. Didn't get shipment notification until 5 days after purchase

Very accurate ammo.

Brass tends to be on the soft side.
FAL will bend the bejeezus out of the rim.

I'd be calling and yelling at them by now As you mentioned, that's why I prefer to deal with Sam @ SG. If they have shipping delays they try and put them on the homepage..

Got mine last Wednesday. Shot today. It was hitting paper some 4moa at 100yd below ZQI. After barrel warmed up it started climbing closer to the ZQI holes.

Since it is supposed to be accurate ammo, my shooting skills really suck as the grouping was much worse than ZQI's, as in groups were 3x bigger. Maybe I just need to put more time and get to know it?

It could be that your rifle doesn't like that bullet weight/velocity combination.
I have 2 F A Ls with uncut StLf3 StG58 barrels. One loves FGMM 175 gr ammo. The other slings the same load like it is blowing it's nose. The same barrel that hates FGMM 175 loves Nosler 168 Match. ("Love" means 2 MOA or less )

I agree that rifles tend to like certain ammo and sometimes seem to hate other offerings. A load that fails in one rifle might work fine in another. I'd add that high quality match ammo will usually outperform cheap fmj stuff. I do a lot of testing trying to figure out what each build likes.

But I don't do a very good job of it. Don't get me wrong. I shoot multiple 5 shot groups of each sample and try 5 or 6 different loads during one of my tests, and I save the targets.

The problem is I know how such a test should be done and that's not what I'm doing. It costs a small fortune to do the little tests I do. If you really wanted to know with some certainty if a particular load works better, you would have to do a test similar to what is known in industry as a gage R&R. That would cost a lot more. And it would take forever.

So even though I know 2 x 5 shot groups can't tell me much, I still do them and delude myself

I'm a little disappointed in how the shooting sports are so remarkably unscientific. It is ironic since bullets hitting a bullseye are the classic example used to illustrate precision and accuracy, which are fundamental ideas in statistics and that gage R&R business.

If I had way too much money and nothing but time, I would enjoy doing real statistical tests on this stuff. Anybody want to sponsor me?

Someday, us paper punchers are going to report our firearm performance by the size of a standard deviation in both the vertical and horizontal.
