High quality safe recommendations?

I understand most commonly branded gun safes are really just lock boxes that take the knowledgeable theif about 30 seconds to crack. Do you all know of any safes that provide more lasting protection against burglary and fire?

some are obviously better than others.

Look at Graffunder for the Cadillac. Brown Safe
is a strong safe but is less painted than others.
Smith Security Safe is some good stuff too.

Thumbs up Drake safe company

Drake safe company. The best built safes I have seen. Pricing is very good for what you get. Greg is easy to work with.

I use jewelers safes, amsec is one brand and major is another.
These have a TL30 rating.

Any safe made for use with military like the GSI types work great as most were made to store firearms safely.

TO THE OP:

When you ask for quality you give up low cost generally.
Most safes advertised to secure guns are the cheapest garbage you could buy.

So true....of many things indeed......second statement true also....unfortunately.

Amsec is a good one I've heard also....never seen one in person.

Amsec makes junk too. I have sheet metal box made by them and
it would at minimum keep them from hauling them off.

I thought that bolting a safe to the ground and ensuring getting to it from the sides and rear goes a long way in making the safe safer.

That would be a good start. Having a dummy safe full
of bricks is a good idea also.

Pretty much keeps the crack/meth heads a bay. They’re generally not coming in with a portable oxy acetylene rig from HF.

Check on craigslist and use search terms: Mosler, Diebold, Data Safe, TL15, TL30, or Commercial Safe
All of my gun safes have come off craigslist for $1000 or less. The $300 dollar Mosler double door was a hell of an experience moving though.

The best and cheapest safe (the Mosler) came out of a lumber yard in Seattle that was closing. If you are willing/able to put in the leg work you can find some pretty nice safes for cheap.

I have a GSA safe it looks mostly like this one.

This one uses a mosler lock box with a glass plate and 3 relockers.

Oh BTW the walls of some of these are 1.4375 thick.
The gov agency that figures out what safe works for what application.

If rated as Residential Security Container (RSC) the door may be the only decent part. Body of safe is generally it's weakest point. Jewelers safes are generally the best but a darn good alarm is best line of defense. Even force opening an average safe would be spooky with law enforcement dispatched and on the way. Like safes, most alarms, especially the install yourself type suck.
