It's that time again...the Gothic power of Mausers

It's winter time now. The trees are bare and the skies are gray. The wind moans through the dark night. Owls cry their mournful song in the trees outside our house. The day goes dark quickly, the moon rises, when it can be seen at all, behind the stark bare branches. Out in the fields, the damp grass glistens in the pale light of the night. A hawk swoops low over the pasture looking for his prey and the wolves howl in the deep woods.

There is only one rifle to feel at one with in this time of the year. There is but one rifle that speaks to this gray world in the silent language it knows. It is the Mauser; steeped in lore and history and tradition. Its smooth mechanical workings effortlessly meshing together to give confidence and comfort to its bearer. Alone in its elegance, the Mauser seems born to this winter time. Born to this Gothic world of dark and power and mystery, the Mauser whispers that its power and reliability are there for you, to guide and protect you. It speaks to us in a language older than man's reckoning of time, old like the ancient time of nature itself. And we understand the Gothic power of the Mauser rifle. And it asks no quarter, nor gives any.

raw power

I don't know about gotic power but I can attest to raw power. Old school custom build in 308 norm mag born in the Erfurt Mauserwerkes factory in 1915 as an Imperial gewehr 98

Have a Zastava M48 and an FR-8, both are fun to shoot. Had a second M48 and Zrak scope to build into a Yugo sniper, but could never lay my hands on the proper Zrak mounts.
