SAR 8

So if a guy finds a metal SAR8 and wants to fix the Clintonian defects, how hard is it. I know the SAR4800 rifles are pretty easy to fix. But wondered about the SAR8 rifles.

There are two kinds of SAR-8's. There is the one with the integral rail and made in the U.S. . That one doesn't have the greatest reputation. The second is the Greek manufactured one, where you just have to round up the correct 922(r) parts and replace them. Or, send it to Gunplumber for his 91k conversion, which is a sweet rifle. I did that with mine and couldn't be happier.

If it's a SAR-3/8 overstamp you may not need any conversion at all. The one I own is just like an HK91.

I found this one last week for 1.5K, EX condition. Scope/HK mount & wood stock came with it.

For discussion sake, the only SAR 3, 3/8, or 8 I will be talking about will be the Greek EBO rifle.

The earlier rifles under 10000 serial are threaded under the muzzle thinky.
The later are plain muzzle under there.
Very easy conversion otherwise

All I've ever seen is overstamp = threaded, not overstamped = plain/no threads.

Hey CJJ, I look around the Wanamaker show for EBO rifles. I usually see HK 91s for 1800 or 1900. I just never see SAR 3s or 8s.

I hit ever Wanenmacher show, and haven't run onto an $1800 HK91 - wish I could. Haven't seen any of the SAR-3/8/overstamp 8s either. See a few PTRs, though.
