P6 Slide Markings

I inherited a P6 from my late FIL. It has Made in West Germany, 11/79 and a serial number stamped on one side of the slide. The other side is stamped with C.A.I. Georgia. VT.

I have no idea where or how he got it. Was it imported by Century Arms or what? Any ideas?

Thanks

Yup, they were. Was reading about them just this morning, but was looking for info on the P 226 so didn't pay a lot of attention to the P6 info. Seems to me that PW had some also, not sure if they were obtained from CAI or not.

They were supposedly marked so there was no confusion with the CIA spooks.

If I can remember, I will dig mine out this weekend and double check, but I think it has the same markings.

I bought a P6 with two mags and fretted about how hard it was to find mags for it. About a year later I was sitting with friends at a gunshow in portland when a guy walks up with a bag of magazines to sell, about 10 P6 mags and I bought them all.

Good stroke of luck there. Wish someone would show up with a bag of Mags for my Browning BDM or FN DAO. Even one or two would be nice.

The P6 was a used police gun and when I bought mine it was just too good a deal to pass up. $325 way back in the early days but I didn't get the holster as the guy sold it separate. Today they want a lot more for them and mags are difficult to find still, about like 239 mags but not quite as expensive.

I am particular so I only want P6 magazines. And yes, "P6" marked magazines are a little harder to find but P225 magazines are plentiful and identical other than the markings. Neither are particularly expensive.

I have a P6, left side of the slide, is marked Sig Sauer, made in W. Germany.
Right side marked, P6 NW 3/82, serial number on slide, barrel, and frame,
also on the right side of frame below the markings, is the importers info.
PW ARMS REDMOND WA

On the bottom of the slide, under the recoil rod are a couple proof marks.
