EDC knife

What knives are other FALers carrying everyday?

Mine is a Kizer Gemini. Its a collab between Kizer and Ray Laconico. Titanium scales and S35V blade.

* generic pic of said knife that is 1000x better than anything I could take

My EDC's are cheeps that I usually get from Schrade, Gerber, or Colombia River. The steel is either good enough or not too bad in these brands.
Expensive knives are nice, but I misplace them just as well as I do the cheeps so four or five is better than one real good one to me as my odds of finding a knife when I need it are much better.

I do own a couple fair to middling expensive folders, but no clue where they are, so I guess the $20 Schrade SCH001 I got in my hand is the best knife I have, at least at this time.

Ilduce, that's a very fine looking folder you have there by the way.

The price isn't bad, but when I read "Made in China," I knew why it didn't cost anything near a Sebenza, whose partial knock-off it appears to be.

I was at Dick's last week, and I considered upgrading.

A strange world where $20 buys a knife like this.
What would Crocodile Dundee do?

Schrade is kaput. They went out of business in 2004. Taylor brands puts the name(s) on cheapo imports. Pre-2004 Schrades are good products.

And who do you think Ray ripped off for his ideas? Titanium liner-lock drop point means a Sebenza copy to me.

A few years ago, on TXScouts recommendation, I bought an Emerson SOCFK and still carry it every day.

I bought one of those for my dad and I a while back--probably one of the best deals out there.

ETA: you did well, then, RSU. I remember recommending them, just figured nobody listened! Solid knife if you can still find them.

The SK is a very under ratted blade mate !!! I got my first (yes I have more than one after I decided how much I liked this one and I like spares) on a whim and have carried the hell out of it (it has visited the US, New Zealand, South Africa and Mozambique in addition to all its travel here). It is just "handy" !!!!!!

I have few folders !!! The import laws here for these from 20111 till now have SUCKED !!! But in a flash of brilliance Customs have decided that they had made an arse of themselves and repealed the changes in December just gone. I just bought a Sebby !!! It is still in the US though.

I carry a Leather C33 folder while wearing civies and a Benchmade Stimulus while in uniform. And my money clip is a K.I.S.S. from CRKT. So I am never without a blade.

And while there are many better knives out there than the ones I carry, an aficionado would cry if he saw how mine were used on a daily basis. So, I purchase the ones that work well and won't break the bank.

I have carried this Gerber (made in Portland, OR, btw) 90% of the time since I bought it in the ship's store back in 1994. I love this knife! It has peeled apples, gutted deer and picked my toenails. It is an inconel 625 blade - hard as hell to sharpen, but it holds an edge for literally years. It has probably had 3 real sharpenings since 1994.

I also have a Kershaw lightweight lock back that I carry when I wear slacks. It doesn't compare to the Schrade LWLB I had in high school, but I can't find that one anymore.

I have a few other Gerber blades. The Paraframe may be the only made in China. I don't carry it frequently so I can't say for sure.

Hmm... I have a lot of knives, the one I hunt with is a folding, rubber handled, 4" Buck, maybe payed $30 for it. My $400 Striders sit in the safe waiting for something more important...

IF I carry a EDC knife its for utility, maybe a cheap Spyderco, for opening boxes or scraping caulk off of a customers window.

If you want MY answer - it's the knife I hunt with - a $30 Buck folder. You can defend yourself with it AND field dress a 600LB Elk:-)

You can get a new blackened stainless clip for that, like the older BMs had. I had a coated clip on my Griptillian, which looked like crap, and got them to send me a new one for free. The oxide finish wears to a nice "well used" patina, instead of just looking scratched.

Ka-Bar Dozier Design limited edition d2 #823 of 1000. Black micarta scales it handles and cuts really well. I bought it at Smoky Mountain Knive Works for $20 a little over a year ago.

I have a soft spot for Bob Dozier’s knives. His no-nonsense designs, impeccable fit & finish, D2 steel, and overall value really appeal to me. I’m more into his workingman’s knives, which are not his high-end customs, but are solid, practical blades for the money. The fit to my hand is marvelous!

Here’s a couple of basic Doziers, one or the other of which I carry nearly every day. Top one is a Custom Drop Point with 3.25 inch satin D2 steel blade, tan G-10 scales w/black liners, and brass pins & lanyard tube. Bottom is a Model K-28 Dozier Personal with 2.5 inch satin D2 steel blade, black Micarta scales, and aluminum pins & lanyard tube. Both knives have Kydex sheaths.

Some good looking blades in this thread. I still carry a 28 year old fully serrated Spyderco dlc coated police model. I thing I paid about 70 bucks for it back then. It has cut plastic, wire, wood, whatever I had to cut or saw through. I've sharpened it a few times but its still going. I like those Doziers a lot pretty sweet little blades.

My EDC knife for 3+ decades has been a three-blade Case or Buck, depending on which one I bought the last time I lost mine (or TSA took it away from me ).

Great utility knife and always at least one blade still sharp between sharpenings.

BTW - Don't bring a knife to a gun fight

Ive EDCd a Kershaw 1605ST folder for the past 3 years. Not as pricey or as nice as a good Benchmade or Spiderco but has suited my needs just fine.

Since my first post in this thread, my everyday carry has changed. It's now a Kershaw Hinderer 1555Ti. I like the size, quick to open and it sharpens up with just a few strokes on my oil stone. It's made in China, btw. Not a bad deal for $20.

Columbia River Drifter. I got a bunch for my groomsmen years ago and they all still carry theirs. I've lost two of 'em (why can't I lose my shittier knives instead?), and end up replacing them with the same thing. Sometimes I'll change it up with an Opinel or a Douk Douk.

Another Kershaw 1670 Blur user. About as expensive as I care to own ($60 WalMart, $120 at gun shows). I dehorn the thumb stud so it doesn't bite me when playing pocket-pool.

Still carrying that little Kershaw 'Amplitude' flipper with the 2.5" blade. Carried larger folders for several decades. But like the smallness of this little knife. Easy to carry and few take issue with the blade length if that ever is an issue.

Did add a Leatherman 'Wingman' multi-tool. Always carried a loop of aircraft cable strung with various small tools in a pocket. I think the Wingman works a bit better in most situations.

This was my daily work rig for past couple of years:

SIG 2022 handgun with Spyderco Remote Release serrated blade that has extracted me from two serious issues off U.S. soil and been indespensible as my primary knife when did mountain rescue. Also notice there is a Leatherman Multi-tool that wear on belt and a small Victorinox executive knife with USB data drive, LED light, knife, file, screwdriver, scissors, tweezers and toothpick all in size hardly notice. Since this picture was taken have swapped the single leather mag pouch for a double pouch, holster to Level 3 retention and the Spyderco to a folding box cutter so can flip blade when dulls and carris three spare blades in handle. Break or dull blade reverse or replace and don't risk losing the Spyderco and use on weekends and anytime wear dress cloths instead of box cutter for work.

When dress in sport coat or go into the city usually carry a fix blade knife as well as a folder including a folder. Like my AG Russell or old small Cold Steel Damascus Tanto.

Have dozens of Leatherman Multi-tools as tried for years to collect every model they released. My first was a pre-production model their sales rep brought in my Outdoor Outfitters store and told him only way would place an order was if he left me one of his samples which he resisted till I filled out an order form for two dozen units when he was having a tough time setting up dealers. Didn't even have company name or patent numbers engraved.

Not an EDC but this Parker Damascus from the days of Rambo type knives monopolizing the market is a heck of a knife. Big enough to remove limbs off zombies if need in one swift swing.

wow, I actually agree with Huey on something.

I literally have it out 20+ times a day. I used to use the smaller one, but when I lost it, they only had the one with the larger handle. Which I ended up liking more. So now that I found the old one in the laundry, I still use this one.
