Somewhere in the eastern Caribbean. Will hit Tortola, British Virgin islands tomorrow morning.
The ship is floating much higher in the water now than when we left port from the tons of alcoholic beverages being consumed out of provisions.

Sorry could not figure out how to embed this with stupid apps.

So, they let you shoot AR's loaded with 77 grain OTM onboard?

They provide Shoot-n-See targets, too?

Cool!

One of these days, I'll take a cruise where I don't have to do the work and can eat and drink whenever I want to.

Tentea they don't even shoot Clay's off the stern on this one.
Seems like there is a void that should be filled, a shooting friendly cruise! A knob Creek of the seas type thing...

They could have the Knob Creek Sea Cruise transit the corridor between Cuba, the Caribbean islands and Florida. A target rich environment for sure!!

Oh wait, they call that the Coast Guard! Oh well, how about Militia of the Seas!!

Not a huge fan of cruising. But damn some days just sitting on the balcony watching the ocean with a ransom of booze snuck on board sure beats the downside of having to walk by the whale pool on the way to eat. I like the casino too.

Got the unlimited drinks package. Sitting on the balcony right now with a cohiba and a black russian. Going back up to the casino in a couple minutes. Had a blast there last night almost broke even.

I stayed in Tortola over Christmas this year. The place is still pretty ravaged by the hurricanes. I like St. John better (stayed there two years ago). Go visit The Baths while in the BVI (at an island close to Tortola). Beautiful place, although I think I got my fill last time around.

ahhhh the Good Ole Days

During WWII Erol Flynn was issued BARs and ammo to carry aboard his Yaight.

Hemmingway same deal...
think both got 1928 Thompsons as well

Many years back I ran into a character who had Captained a couple ships for wealthy. He laughed about WWII, late 30s he was offered .30 & .50 belt feds, mounts and instillation. Apparently the Wife of the Master objected to the "Ugly Things"

How did Yost make out? The same I imagine.

We were in Saint John about 10 years ago visiting friends there running a sailboat charter. We did a day trip to YvD. They sold their boat and came back to the states fulltime the Fall before Irma. Talk about good timing.

All of the major islands were still pretty beat up. I'd guess half the houses in Tortola were missing their roofs. There were plenty of beached boats and trashed cars laying around. I heard that the Brits sent in 600 marines to keep the peace for 10 months. It doesn't look like they put much back into the place after the storm. We rented a villa over looking Smugglers Cove. I saw very few people. I think most of the places were vacant -- and that was in high season. Actually, that was kind of a good thing given the terrifying roads we had to drive on. The downtown was in so-so shape. Cruise ships are docking there, but there isn't much to see. St Thomas, OTOH, is pretty much back to normal from what of it I saw.

We went there and I bought a bottle of their best rum for $20. I should have bought two. Pretty good stuff.

Yep Tortola and St Thomas are still recovering, St Thomas is doing better for sure.
We been blessed with fabulous weather. I bought cigars in ST and on the ship with the ones bought on board being just awesomely fresh. No comparison.
Brought my snorkeling gear for Great Stirrup Cay today, water was perfect.
Will post up a few more pics when I can.

Problem is you can't gamble in Texas. I mainly put up with it and gamble and sit on the balcony and bake, in the sun. Wife likes it. Me meh. I'm too anti social the older I get.

I think I inherited something from the grandfather I never met with respect to a fun vacation and red beans and rice on Monday

The ship was very big. Lots of people.

Me and wifey at the pier in Tortola.

Part of the shore excursion in Tortola was a boat tour. Water is a gorgeous blue, not showing up well in photos. Here we are at a snorkiling spot, not evident b ut lots of people in the water.
The boats we saw were mostly pro-level very nice bay and offshore stuff, lots of big sailing cats.

IMG_20190416_113941216_HDR

We had a great time cruising for seven days. I'm looking at 53 day cruises now.

Something that can help show clear water is putting a polarized filter over your lens. Did this off the balcony in Puerto Rico by just putting my sunglass lens over the phone camera lens, and you could see every detail in the water on the bottom. Might experiment a little if you have or can find some polarized sunglasses.
